Supose we multiply the number of complete application count by 4 times and assume the cap update is as of 15 May, then we get the following figures

Total received toward the overall cap: 652 as of 15 May 2013

0211 Engineering managers 40
1112 Financial and investment analysts 228
2113 Geoscientists and oceanographers 8
2131 Civil engineers 16
2132 Mechanical engineers 28
2134 Chemical engineers 8
2143 Mining engineers -
2145 Petroleum engineers -
2144 Geological engineers -
2146 Aerospace engineers 0
2147 Computer engineers (except software engineers/designers) 80
2154 Land surveyors -
2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers 204
2243 Industrial instrument technicians and mechanics 4
2263 Inspectors in public and environmental health and occupational health and safety 4
3141 Audiologists and speech-language pathologists -
3142 Physiotherapists 4
3143 Occupational Therapists 4
3211 Medical laboratory technologists 16
3212 Medical laboratory technicians and pathologists' assistants -
3214 Respiratory therapists, clinical perfusionists and cardiopulmonary technologists -
3215 Medical Radiation Technologists 0
3216 Medical Sonographers 8
3217 Cardiology technologists and electrophysiological diagnostic technologists -

I feel that this is the current scenario.

Now that would just suck for those of us who have applied for the 1112 category.

The latest CAP update is refreshing specially for late starter ;D.

I filed for 1112 on 28th June; from there, 60 days will be on 28th August. If CIC accept 29 applicants of 1112 between 24th June and 16th July (22 days), at this pace, within 43 days (28th August less 16th July), 57 more applicants will be accepted. So the total tally will be 114 only, far far below the cap.

I am really really excited finding the late starters' hope alive :) :).

Read carefully. The website says the figure is as of May 4. Not as of 16th July.

What I feel is the latest CAP update is before 13th may as applicant of 13th may of our spreadsheet got cc charged in 3215 NOC which update shows as 0

Hello Forum members. Yes the long awaited CAP updates is here but that hasn't taken the anxiety away from us. It has brought hope to some and more brain tease/anxiety to others. Since our lovely spreadsheet is only some percentage of the whole, we should not keep comparing with CIC but use it strictly as a speculative guide.

No formula will give us accurate figures. Luck, mistakes, oversights, use of substituted evaluations, moods, miracles etc. will continue to happen at CIC(of course they are human) so unique situations are bound to occur(rational thinking). We should focus more on helping ourselves with questions and answers regarding applications and use the spreadsheet as our own little world. I believe this forum wasn't created to analyze the workings in CIC. Non of us here has worked for CIC or have relatives in there who could tell exactly how they operate so how then do we keep on endless ponderings?

For those waiting, keep it optimistic. The rest is purely out of our control. Let's not forget the focus of why we are here as it never stopped people from getting good and bad news. How we manage them really matters in here.

Jigzyy, Islandbabe and Marta, great spirit to service and leadership. Canada will be pleased to have your caliber in their economy. Keep it up, no limits...

Its either to be or not to be!

Cheers.

Well said. I hope everyone continues to share news, whether good or bad.

Good morning all,

English natives correct me if I am wrong, but from the English knowledge I have, in the sentence: "The number of complete federal skilled worker applications received as of May 4, 2013 is an estimate.", "as of" has the meaning "starting/from", the date from which something is considered to take effect. So in simple words they say "We started counting complete applications on the 4th of May" but they DON'T mention the date UNTIL when they have counted. So they are NOT saying the count is only for 4th of May, but that they started counting on that day!

Also please treat particular subjects such as PCCs in India/BCs in India, other non related to ALL applicants here in DIFFERENT TOPICS !

And last and I hope I don't upset anyone, could you please stop asking especially admins "I sent the app on XXX. Do you think I stand a chance??". Admins and other people are not fortune tellers and NO ONE can predict what might happen with your application. Sent it already? Good, the destiny will decide what happens with it. Have all documents ready and question whether to send it or not? Send it!!you have only courier money to lose (else you have only lost the money for notarizing&translating and you didn't even take your chance with FSWP)... Please stop being childish and expect a miracle answer. Only time will tell what will happen to your application !!!

As for next steps in the process after cc/dd charge CHECK THE CIC website(http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06c-eng.pdf)!! It has all the steps very well explained. I know you are happy for being charged, but others here are anxious/nervous and still wiating for news from CIC and we have to be considerate (careful not to hurt others) !

Let's have a great Wednesday everyone ! Jigzzy/Adrenalineforu/Idima I am counting on you guys to lighten up the mood!!!

Concise and to the Point....Reputation added for you

Hats off to all the admins!

In my opinion, since payments are still being collected for applications received by CIC on May 16th.

Since 2174 has reached 51 in 12 days (from 4th May untill May 16th).
My calculation is 51 / 12 = 4.25 applications per day
and 4.25 x 70 days = 300.

so chill guys 2174 candidates whose application are recieved untill the 14th of July should be safe in my opnion :) chow
and 1112 candidates whose applications are received untill the 7th of July should have high hopes too :)...

Say that I am not wrong ;D

I would say that you are right, if the 51 applications received were as of MAY 16. However, according to the CIC website, the 51 applications were received as of MAY 4. So if they are receiving 51 applications per day, that means the cap should have been filled in SIX days.

But since they continue to process applications and issue PERs, the cap has obviously NOT been filled up.

Something is wrong with the statistics disclosed by the CIC.

"as of" in this context indicates that data will have been taken account of up until that point, i.e. everything until the date specified.

I guess CIC should be updating the date to go along with it, so it is puzzling that they haven't.

(I am English, IELTS 9, so hopefully you'll take my word for it :D )

I think there is nothing wrong there. It only displays the number of applications they have been able to process and mark them as complete by 16th July starting from 4th May.

It doesn't translate into 163 app's received overall.

4th of May is a Saturday and CIC doesn't sit and update Caps.. this is the date which they started the New FSW after the pause. so literally it means that FROM 4th of May till whats ever date they had check ( not mentioned anywhere ) is the cap update. for those who have send in ur application instead of speculating and confusing the whole crowd i would rather say swallow it and wait for CIC to do the job.

Its an estmate because although they receive applications daily, they are unable to verify if all the neccessary documents and requirements are present.
So the update is for the ones ACTUALLY gone through by CIC.
This means that though the update states xxx No, its possible there are applications which though not yet verified are complete. This is a way for them to remove liability from CIC in case one submits based on d cap update only to have d forms returned later due to CAP fill

I agree. Do you also think it is for the same reason they continue to say that the information update is as of May 4, instead of a later date?

In the previous CIC update, there was one completed application for NOC 2146 - Aerospace Engineer. This time its 0. Does it mean that it got knocked-off in between stage 1 (completeness check) and stage 2 (PER)?

@ Adrenalineforu I beg to differ: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/as%20of

They say they started counting complete applications ON the 4th of May but don't mention an end date (ambiguous wording used in their advantage)...

@ loncan: I got 8.5 in IELTS but I am not Native speaker...but still for me "as of" means "a particular date when something/a rule comes into force" (eg. As of July 17th no one will get his application back :)))...I will end this topic on wording as I also need to follow my suggestions of keeping this topic clean of other subjects ;D

civeng....I also support you with the meaning of the 'as of'. Most of the dictionaries say it refers to the date from where something has started or terminated, not until this very date from the start date. Thanks for pointing out this in this forum.
