GUY anybody has any idea what is CAIPS all about, i was on researching and got this on internet.

CAIPS is short for 'Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System'. It is the computer system historically used by Citizenship & Immigration Canada to process visa applications, and holds all the information on the current status of every immigration application being processed by overseas offices (i.e. those outside of Canada), other than new applications at offices which have switched to using the 'GCMS' system.

FOSS is the computer system historically used by CIC offices in Canada to track all immigration-related information, but like the CAIPS system is being superceded by GCMS.

GCMS is short for 'Global Case Management System', and is a newer computer system that CIC are rolling out across their offices. To ensure that we manage to obtain your file, we request both CAIPS/GCMS files or FOSS/GCMS files.

Not related to the topic but here's something that's going to be happening to some of us in the future, in a few hours my brother n his family will be flying to canada. He applied in 2009 n got his visa stampted earlier this year... good luck to him all of u out there....

From what I saw (on link you provided and elsewhere), it's a computer system that CIC uses to process the immigration (actually it's an old system for doing that, which is gradually being replaced by GCMS).

Apparently, under some information freedom act, all Canadian citizens can access that data, and get their own info from CIC system, after paid a fee of CAD 5.
Also - Canadian citizens can ask for that info for anyone else in the world, provided that that person gives them their written consent to do so. Consent should be on this form.

That is what some immigration lawyers are using to get you more info about your case, except they usually charge it 30-40 CAD, from what I see.

So, if you're app is stuck and you'd like to get some info about it, you can pull that info from CAIPS or GCMS system. Which will probably come in handy for many of us.

One of my friend got news from some consultant in Canada that CIC is preferring applications from ppl who applied through CIC authorized consultants in order of application dates. though some individuals may get CC/DD charged.

Anyone who applied through consultants, can you pls get this verified at ur end?

There is no cause for alarm, based on the source of your information, and the fact that at least one of the persons who got CC charged did not use a consultant, I think we can discredit this statement as a cheap marketing gimmick.

I don't know how authentic this news is but here is what I was told.
As I mentioned in my earlier post my brother is traveling to canada today, he applied through a consultant so when he got his visa he recommended me to meet that consultant 4 my case as well. When I 1st met him around end of April 2013 he told my I had a strong case n suggested I would start gathering my documents, as I had not planned to apply earlier so there were many things I had to do including ilets n the earliest date I was getting was 16th may. I had already paid 4 my ilets n had sent my degree 4 evaluation to WES. Now I thought I should get in touch with the consultant again to ask 4 more details n pay him the intial fee so I went visit him around 10 of may, this time he told me I was already late 4 applying this year n that he had already sent 4 applications 4 the NOC 1112. He also added that there r about 3000 visa consultants n even if each of them send 1 application per noc u won't be able to make it this time. Any ways I sat my ilets exam n arranged all my documents n sent them my self . I won't be to bothered if I don't make it but im glaf I tried....

So don't let ur self down by rumors n such pitty issuses think positive n hope 4 the best as this is not the end of the world.

DD people have to wait another 15 ~ 20 days before they actually know if the DD has been enchased. For example, if CIO sent my DD for clearance Today [June 24], My bank won't know about it till July 12th or July 15th. It's the standard procedure and we can't do anything about it [even bank too].

That gives us the only option to send an email to CIO to ask if UCI has been assigned or not, which takes another 20 working days to get back. Every way is lengthy for those who have sent the confirmed payment :'(
