The consultant gets to know through the applicants informing them about their details
Actually you know what .....Why don't you guys drop an email to CIC. I am telling you this for your own good. It can be a game played by your consultant coz apart from CIC there is only one possibility that someone has your application details is your consultant. He might later come back and say see there might be some problem with your Application, to fix it we might need to do this, and for this it will cost so and so amount. Chennai is a cosmopolitan, you get foreigners in every alternate street in Chennai, don't get me wrong.
It's just a suggestion ...please don't get me wrong.
"You drop an mail to CIC, thank them or inform them or acknowledge them about there recent visit to the office. Tell them that you guys felt little uncomfortable and were in kinda of predicament as there was no prior information. etc ..etc
So please let me know the status of my application and wait period involved for the same ..etc" [As an applicant you can drop an email anytime for any clarification. This shows your integrity in checking something and will give a positive impression to your case officer]
Don't inform your consultant if you wanna send this mail.
By this way,
1. You will have complete clarity on who visited the office
2. A status on your app.
3. We the forum mates will know what happened exactly.
