I have a little predicament.
I got married a month ago.
My Marriage cert is ready, Spouse new ID card is ready. But we just found out in my country no passports being issued due to technical reasons and i may have to wait 2-3 mnth before i can apply with her new passport.
CAN I APPLY USING HER OLD PASSPORT with old surname?
Name is different on ID card now and ielts result.
WES is posted. Spouse IELTS result expected in 1.5 weeks. So i can apply start of july with her old passport.
PLEASE ADVISE..... :(
Which NOC do you intend to apply?

Why change her surname? Wouldn't changing that was easier thing? ;) Anyway, IF the old passport is still valid, than I can guess you can send it. You can do two things, either change the Surname back to original in the National Card and re-issue it, and when you renew the passport, it'll still use the same name, so you'll be good OR wait till the passport is reissued with new details.

what is your Noc code?

LOL good one. Aditya, we will have to stalk JIGS11 also as he is next in line.

Analysing the spreadsheet, I believe that the total cap of 5,000 will not be reached on the next few months, perhaps it will not be reached untill May of 2014. This is very unfair with the applicants within the hotter NOCs. CIC should have the option to relocate some positions from the less applied NOCs to others, don't you think?

I agree strongly, but there you go.
I think it would have been smarter to leave the cap at 500 and lower the global cap from 10000 to 5000. But then again - who are we to tell Canada's govt what workers they need?
I think it would be wise for them to receive double of 2174 or 2147, especially since they weren't accepting them in past years - but - if they really needed/wanted them (us), then why didn't they even accept them in past years?

So only logical conclusion is that Canada don't really need that much of 2174 or 2147, or possibly 1112s. Otherwise they'd just leave the caps bigger on each occupation or would say - this is open to changes, based on the influx. They didn't say anything of that, so I guess Canada is fine with what they have.

On the other side - I see the Minister going to Silicon waley and boring people on tweeter with messages to IT entrepreneurs to come to Canada, on Dan Dragon visa -so obviously they do need computer guys. SO if they need them - why limiting them to 300!??

Don't ask me. :) I couldn't even figure out earlier why is Canada crying for people all the time, while leave the applicants to wait for YEARS or even a DECADE to be let into the country!

Everytime the trend is similar to the present one. The hot NOC's do get filled early. The lucky ones are those who are applying in less demand NOC's. They get ample time to prepare documents and are stressfree.

But as I understood the cap is not a matter of needs, is a matter of processing capacity to avoid the backlog. If the specific caps was based on their needs, the distribution would never be linear.

Agreed. I'd just say this year it will be worse than usual since global cap is cut in half and per-occupation one from 500 to 300. Also, there was a fullstop on applications last year.
Maybe CIC is simply trying to get rid of the backlog of a few 100k people and they said - "ok, let's allow say... 5k of the new ones, just so that no one says that we stopped accepting".

On the other hand - those with job offers are safe from caps. It's not CIC's fault we don't have a job offer. :)

Speaking of that - does anyone know if self-sufficient people have any way at all to get into CA? Apart from investor/business visas.

Martha,
I'm also in the same situation as yours. I submitted the older version of the schedule 3. I'm still waiting for my application to be returned. I have a question on the IELTS though. I did sent my original IELTS report with my application. Looks like it is difficult to get a duplicate one in case if I have to resubmit my application. How did you manage IELTS report when you resubmitted the application. Did CIC sent the IELTS back to you ?
