I am a chemical engineer..and my profession need licence..I was thinking that after getting PR i just need to land in canada and strait away i can search job and get a job in chemical engineering..
but on timeline i was told that for regulated professions in canada one has again apply for education evaluation from their respective agency/board/council/ association responsible for license. If u pass that assessment then only your eligible to sit for equivalency examination. The next stage is to pass qualifying exam. Lastly your jurisprudence exam.Apart from all these exams in one of any stage you will require to clear your IELTS exam with min mandatory score. After all these things you will require professional liability insurance and then by paying fees you will get license to practice in your profession.

this sound very difficult..can i start this process from India only, before getting my PR?..or it can only be started after getting PR and reaching in Canada?how much time will it take to get licence and what will i do until i don't get my licence...please share some thread like timeline or any site like CIC which has all the information about this...
well nothing is difficult friend if u know the correct path..well first try to find out who is the licensing body in canada for your job, go to its site and it will give u all the information...as for physiotherapy..we have governing body and we can do credentials from india even before PR....
so m sure there will be same in your job too..

sinestra,
I will not advice you to send the passport for renewal, because of 2 reasons
1. If you get passport request from CIC then it will be available with you to send it immidiatly.
2. July 2014 is still enough time and i thnk since you have recived PER already it should be quick to get MR and Passport ..

PR visa which comes of passport is only for entry into canada..you get a PR card then onward to use for your trips to/from canada.
If you think its going to be quick passport renewal then i would suggest go ahead get it renewed.

Just an advice, because my passport is also expiring same time next year and i was thinking to send for renew in indian consulate in usa but thank god i ddnt sent it..
you never know what time take for renewal..

Just been back from Passport office. I should be getting my daughter's passport renewed in a week. This is apparently the timeline for passport issued via tatkaal process. And ya no AOR yet. >:(

Ministerial Instructions (MI1)*: Federal Skilled Workers

Under the first set of Ministerial Instructions (MI1) issued on November 29, 2008, CIC began to limit the type of Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) applications received to the following categories:
a) applicants with an arranged employment offer;
b) applicants with work experience in one of 38 in-demand occupations; and
c) applicants in Canada as students or temporary foreign workers.

MI1 was applied retroactively to FSW applications received on or after February 27, 2008. Read the full text of MI1.
*Note that MI1 was superseded by MI2's issuance (see below)*

Thanks Vats for the info.. So FSW 2013 applicants fall under Mi3 category..

Ministerial Instructions (MI2)*: Federal Skilled Workers, Canadian Experience Class, Immigrant Investor Program

As part of the second set of Ministerial Instructions (MI2) released on June 26, 2010, CIC capped the number of new FSW applications to be processed at 20,000, not including applications with an arranged employment offer. The Department also responded to evolving labour market trends by issuing an updated FSW eligibility list of 29 occupations, each capped at no more than 1,000 applications. In addition, FSW and Canadian Experience Class principal applicants became subject to mandatory language testing. MI2 also included a temporary pause on new federal Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) applications. Read the full text of MI2.
*Note that FSWP and IIP provisions in MI2 have been superseded by those in MI3 (see below)*

Ministerial Instructions (MI3)*: Federal Skilled Workers, Immigrant Investor Program, Entrepreneurs

Effective July 1, 2011, the third set of Ministerial Instructions (MI3) further limited the intake of new FSW applications by lowering the global cap to 10,000, with sub-caps of 500 for each of the 29 priority occupations. It introduced an annual cap of 700 for new applications made under the federal Immigrant Investor Program, and also included a temporary moratorium on Entrepreneur applications while that program undergoes review. Read the full text of MI3.
*Note that MI3 remains in effect despite the issuance of MI4*

For minors, they don't do police verification. I guess that's why it is quicker.

FSWP 2013 comes under MI8

Ministerial Instructions 8 (MI8):Federal Skilled Workers

Effective May 4, 2013, the eighth set of Ministerial Instructions (MI8) lifted the general pause on the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). It re-established an eligible occupations stream, with an overall cap of 5,000 new applications and sub-caps of 300 applications in each of the 24 eligible occupations. MI8 coincided with the coming into force of the modernized FSWP, which included new minimum language requirements and mandatory educational credential assessments of foreign educational credentials. MI8 also re-set the cap for PhD applicants under the FSWP (1,000 new applications each year) and for the Federal Skilled Trades Program (3,000 new applications each year) to May 4, 2013 thru April 30, 2014. Lastly, the MI renewed the temporary pauses on the Immigrant Investor Program and the Federal Entrepreneur Program.

Application received today just a few minutes ago. Too late I know. I filled the form so please update the sheet

Same too, though I filled the form can't see myself in the spreadsheet. Guess there might be a little lead time between filling the form and updating the spreadsheet.
