They issue UCI no. only when your application is complete and correct, if ur file is not complete or incorrect they return ur file without UCI. After completeness check they put UCI no. on ur file and place in queue for assessing against MI.
cant say like this as last time my wife's file returned due to expire of DD though the UCI no was mentioned on that

i have heard that an UCI number is issued regarded of the status. Everyone gets one once they receive an application. Thats why even people who have applied for tourist visa in the past have gotten it. Are you sure?

Dear Priya,

Yes, in view of recent incomplete returned files with UCI, it seems they put UCI on receipt of application... :(

I was misleaded by my consultant who advise that they immidiately charge money while they received application so I sent the dd which was @ 3.5months old while i sent file considering 6months validity and margin of 2.5months but it didnt happen

Serious ?? u sure ? Oh that's a relief ... Even though I hired a consultant to do the job, but as long as I myself don't do anything (Filing in this case) I can not trust anyone .. I am always worrying the consultant would either make some mistake or something ... and that's y it is so late I haven't got anything yet.

Anyway tnx.

This UCI is confusing people.

For FSW 2013, Getting a UCI is just acknowledgment of reciept of your application form by CIC. It is like getting a delivery report from your courier. With the UCI u know that CIC has recieved your appliation and opened it and forwarded it for processing. MERELY HAVINGA UCI DOES NOT IMPLY THAT AN APLLICATION IS SUCCESSFUL OR UNSUCCESSFUL OR THAT IT WILL FALL IN THE CAP OR THAT CC/DD WILL BE CHARGED.

you are right... irrespective of any results u always have an UCI number... UCI is the number is for ur APPLICATION.... does not have to be accepted or rejected... for any circumstances u will get UCI from CIC....I have seen some of my friends got UCI with their returned application.

I have also not heard from NDVO till now.

App received 15 May and PER 23 Aug.

I very much reported AOR from NDVO the moment I got it ...and its in spreadsheet as well.

You don't worry about expiry date

I don't think anything about expiry written on dd, check and if it not there then don't worry about it..

Dear Members,

Especially New Delhi Visa Office,

Please update if any communication anyone has received.
As looking on spreadsheet, one of our member @ welcomecanada (applied on May 13th, 2013) from NDVO has received AOR from NDVO, but no one else reported the same.

Please update accordingly if any of us receive the acknowledgement from New Delhi Visa office

I am there too....

LOL SBI cant set there own rules, all banks have to follow RBI guidelines..BRO we r in d same boat even myy dd is of SBI bank.. purchase date 8/5/13 expires on 8/8/13.. as per 3 months validity file received 31/5/13 1112 applicant.. i m still waitin my dd is encashed or not. coz u get 2 no aftr 15 days 1nce yur dd is encashed...
RBI guidelines on DD and Cheque issued in India (resident) is for 3 months.. CIC DD is an international DD which is valid for 6 months. if you want to take a 1 year international DD you could do that also.. Please check the RBI site for your reference or maybe roll back few pages u will find the link to this information.. asking a normal RM would not have a clue on this.. you need to speak to the forex desk to get the info i mentioned.. hope this helps and lets not create ciaos or confusions again.. topic was discussed and settled long time back..
cheers

Well one guy who got his PR 3/4 years back told me yesterday once the file reaches CIO, they within a short notice does a completeness check of the whole package but doesn't count any points or evaluates any paper ... Once this is done and it passess the checking, UCI is labled on the package ... however, if the app fails the completeness check at this Very first stage, no UCI is stamped and the whole package is simply returned back with a letter .... Returned apps having UCI means it had been failed during the second completeness check or other reason .... so Not ALL returned app will have UCI on it ...

Not sure how accurate is this.

My last experience dictate same story...I'm agree with this.
