I asked the same and it seems very difficult to get an opinion in this. my application received few hours after yours so you should have better chance than m e, i guess

This time ECA is major bottleneck, WES, a popular ECA agency, initially (for 10 days appx) allowed quick service i.e. Rush in service for 1 day and 3 days but now they have shut those doors and people are struggling to get ECA. Those are lucky who got their ECA done before 4th May. This time things are totally different, they are changing the process to assess all the files.

Applications submitted upto now

I have read somewhere in this forum that database maintained here (for 2011 or other year), is 2.5% of the total applications submitted globally. Do you think this number (2.5%) is lower or higher this year?

Due to growing popularity of this forum it may be higher (>2,5%) in 2013
Due to time constraints and people are busy preparing and submitting applications, it can be lower (<2,5%)

I would like to know your thoughts

I think it's hard to tell now as not a single figure coming out of CIC to compare to.
but if we checked the spreadsheet of 2011, there were 250 applicants out of 10000 accepted applications by CIC(that's from where comes the 2.5%), for our spreadsheet till now there are only 158 applicants, only 116 of them their applications have been received by CIC!! How many of these received applications would be within the Cap?!!! we don't know.

So to reach the 2.5% from all the applications being processed by CIC, we need to be 150 applications approved and in process in our spreadsheet and i think we are not in this situation till now.

Have you been preparing for IELTS and WES, what stage of application preparation are you currently at?

I'm in NOC 2174 and I think that that NOC will be much above the 2.5% of total CIC intake. The reason for that is that that NOC is made of programmers, that are online everyday and often the whole day and are much pointed towards the forums, searches related to immigration etc and so they have much bigger chance of stumbling onto this forum (similar to other more or less tech related nocs, like 2147 for example).

Also - in past years NOC 2174 was not even shortlisted for immigration, if it would - it would surely raise the 2011's part of 2.5%.

And one more thing - today, much much more people is online than in 2011, so all of those people have - again - more chances to learn about this forum (or hear about it in the mean time) and come here to register.

So I'd say, overall we'll be close to 10%. and NOC 2174 will be over 15-20%.
At least that's what I tell myself every day before I go to sleep...

its a assumption.
But my faith is strong that no figures iwll come out even the next week seeing how things are going. So Please guys I request you all to put in a mail to the minister requesting about the update cap count. If we don't show interest they wont. As you have observed fswp is not a priority for CIC, they have a zillion other updates on twitter and not so much as a word or hint regarding cap count. I and few people from the foums have mailed them. If a lot of us mail them they would address the matter promptly.
