Frustrated with delay

Applied in Aug-2021 and except Citizenship test nothing moved ahead. Infact the Background Check has moved back to In Progress.
It's very frustrating.

How do we protest/proceed?

Sep 21 here, Scarborough office, waiting on LPP. My FP expires soon, so background will go back to in progress. Whats your office? Have you tried the usual web forms, emails and MP (some are helpful)?

Mine is also Scarborough office.
Reached out to MP many months ago, previously the reply was that my application is under regular processing time so will have to wait. Now the reply is that my application is non-routine and processing time doesn’t apply.!!

There is and will never be any transparency from IRCC. You kinda hope and pray. Nothing you can do. Media won't help. Unfortunately.

Just got off the phone with IRCC, their response to exceeding the 19 month processing time is the my file is non-routine. Seems like this is the standard response for applications that crossed the normal processing time. Not necessary accurate response though

Looks like with processing time decreasing they are going to use this excuse more and more now.

Yes I got the same response. It seems the processing time is meaningless.

I'm a June 2021 Applicant, waiting for LPP. Contacted the MP, they couldn't get any useful information out of them. Nobody told them if the application is non-routine, and when I call IRCC phone line myself, the agents say they can't see anything about routine or non-routine.
The responses I get from both phone agents and the MP are that Montreal office has been notified that the application is overdue, and hopefully they will start processing it soon.
I am filing mandamus through a law firm.

2020 and 2021 applicants are the most unfortunate group when it comes to reasonable processing time. We got caught up in the pandemic saga, and then were forgotten when life got back to normal!

Also August 2021 here. All my steps were completed on Jan 26th except oath ceremony, which is still in progress since then. I definitely feel your frustration!
