Hi Guys, I am an asylum applicant with my wife and 1 child. Its been three years in US and still waiting to hear from the immigration. I want to apply for Express Entry to canada and as far as I know , Only applying through express entry to canada is the option seems left. Now the problem is my wife's Indian passport has expired and as an asylum applicant, indian embassy are not going to renew it. So Is there any other way that I can still apply for Express Entry to Canada with my wife? Please suggest..

Your wife needs to have a valid passport in order for you to apply for Express Entry. I don't think there is any way around this. A valid passport is a mandatory document to apply. I would recommend that you explore further options for renewing your wife's passport if you want to apply for EE. Good luck.

Hi thanks for the reply. But I figure it out that I really don't have any more option other than renewing her passport but not able to do that because of my current immigration status in USA. There should be some way to sort it out. Kindly suggest.

I'm not aware of any alternatives being accepted. Without a valid passport for everyone in your family, I don't think applying for EE will be feasible.

if you are an asylum seeker in the US, I am not sure if you can apply to Canada on EE. I am not exactly sure about this but i think I read somewhere that you can't have asylum applications pending and then apply for economic immigration programs. I would recommend looking it up.

There is no way out. All family members need to have a valid passport to apply for Express Entry.

If you cannot get passport try to get another government issued ID

hey just wanna let you know that I do have my passport unexpired and only my wife's passport is expired. Is there any way that I can apply for EE or AIPP and include my wife later on in the case if its feasible..suggestions would be appreciated.

You and all of your dependents must have valid passports to apply - unfortunately it doesn't matter which program you apply through. Even if you list your wife as non-accompanying (meaning she will come later) - she still needs to provide a valid passport in order for your application to be approved. I'm not aware of any workarounds. This is a complex question and I would recommend you pay for a consult with an experience Canadian immigration lawyer to see if there are any options - or if you are out of luck and will not be able to apply until you are able to renew your wife's passport once she is outside of the US.
