What did he do wrong? He is allowed not to sponsor you or not to move forward with the marriage. There is nothing criminal here unless he promised immigration in exchange for money. It's an unfortunate situation but not sure what you want done.

Really ??
He didn't told me anything about his past marriage this is not cheating ???

As long as he wasn't married at the time and was committing bigamy there is no issue with not mentioning he had been married. It's not very nice what he did but nothing wrong per se.

People are allowed to cheat and withhold info from their past, it's not illegal. Canada will not help you with anything.

If you want to perhaps recover some funds or get payments back, then you need to talk to a lawyer about a divorce.

Doesn't sound like he has any money so there is probably no point paying a lawyer to try to get any money back especially since she willingly gave him the money within the marriage.

I too think honesty is important in a marriage but it isn't a criminal offence to lie or cheat on a spouse.

He doesn't have money and i don't want money i want to punish him .
I have not willing paid him his parents forced me to pay they said we don't have money and we will need to sell our gold and other things to pay him rent
I have proof they said this things to me ..

When i started opposing them if he doesn't have money call him to India we can do something over here they started blaming me for wrong things
I want to punish him that's all i have in mind and i need help
He had that plan already if anything goes wrong i will be in Canada no one can do anything to me that's wrong
I don't have any option to punish him ??

No, you don't really have any options.

You can divorce him and move on with your life. In most divorces the "punishment" is financial, but If he has no assets and no income, it doesn't really sound like there's anything to pursue here.

No this is a personal matter. You could have refused to send him money although I realize culturally it would have been very difficult. I assume this was an arranged marriage and sounds like you were not given accurate information about his family. If there was a matchmaker blame them.

Your situation is sad.
But he didn't commit any crime. Cheating and lying to a spouse is not criminal offence.
It's personal. And I don't think you can do anything to "punish him".

Holding onto anger is like swallowing poison yourself and expecting it to kill someone else.

Redirect to your energy to healing yourself and working towards moving on and a better life for yourself.

I don't understand the illegal things he did. Cheating is not a crime. As we mentioned, this is not an immigration issue.

"Canada" can't help you. For anything related to divorce or financial related issues, you'll need to contact a lawyer.
Rob, cheating is a crime. Otherwise what do you call those people who make calls impersonating CRA asking for money?

Those are scams.
"Cheating" here means hiding facts and lying in a relationship (spouse, bf/gf...etc).
There is no criminal law against these in a relationship.

I know that getting money out from a relationship can also be a crime but usually that needs some kind of pattern and multiple victims to proof.

I think that when it involves cheating money out from someone it becomes a crime. Adultery and emotional hurt etc is not.

But if you represent yourself to be something when you are not it can be a crime. For example there are those on Facebook who pose as someone they are not, get into a relationship with lonely men and women and then get them to send money to them etc.....is that a crime/scam?

One could argue that the original thread starter's husband is a scammer too. When it involves money.....crime....because the damage can be defined and quantified.

Well, but OP said their marriage was genuine.
She can get a lawyer and try to get money back from him. But AP_01 said the husband has no money.

Our marriage was genuine..
