Can anybody help me regarding this form?

I'm the principal applicant and my wife is sponsoring me who's a Canadian. I want to know do I need to fill the Form IMM 5406 or my wife? Also I want to know do I just need to give information about our kids or about mother father and siblings as well?

Just the applicant. Not the sponsor.

Put ALL family members on it from previous marriages to now.

Its pretty self explanatory. Enter parent details, sibling details and then children.

The applicant fills it out. You have to list your spouse, your parents, your children, and all your siblings. If any are deceased, just put 'deceased' in the address section. If you do not know the address or birthdate of some of your siblings, just explain this on a separate sheet.

Your wife does not have to fill one out, because she is already a Canadian. However, everyone they ask about has to be listed, even if they are already a Canadian, and even if they will never come to Canada.

For the other forms, when CIC says 'family member' they mean your spouse or common-law or conjugal partner, and any dependent children. They do not mean other family. In this form, they do mean other family. Think of it as asking about your 'additional family'.

I am also cofused with this form as well.

in document check list( IMM 5491) it says : original of completed additional Family Information ( IMM 5406), for the sponsored person and each family member 18 years of age or over,. whats each family member? do i need to make a copy for each family member? I have susters, brother, mother and father but they are not applying for PR.

however in the guide it says : This form must be completed by:

You, as the principal applicant,
Your spouse or common-law partner (whether accompanying you to Canada or not), and
Your dependent children aged 18 or over (whether accompanying you to Canada or not).

and 5406 form it says :the principal applicant, common law partner and all dependent children 18 years old and over must complete their own copy of this form.

I am the applicant (sponsored) and I have a common law partner who is Canadian and sponsoring me.
I have no children nor does she ..my mother, father, sister and brother are not applying for PR. she has mother father and a brother. does she need to put those info in the form?

so will there be 2 copies one filled out by sponsored( I, applicant) and sponsor?

The principal applicant fills it out. The sponsor does not.
The applicant must list the required relatives.

ok! one form that's filled out by applicant .
(good)

also on the document checklist IMM5491 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5491E.pdf

1)there is a section "sponsored person and family members" do i need to provide those documents?

I have sister,s, brothers, father and mother but they dont apply for PR.

2) the application package includes 3 parts. do i need to use part 3?
Part 1: Sponsorship forms

Part 2: Immigration forms

Part 3: Information guides (Sponsored relatives must follow specific instructions depending on where they live. To find their region, use the list below.)

do I need to use part3 ? sponsored relatives means relatives who are being sponsored or relatives of sponsored person?

I am being sponsored I am not sponsoring anyone but I have brothers, sisters, father, mother..

I live in canada with my sponsor and my family lives in other country.

hope I can find answer.

You, the applicant, fill it out. Answer the questions as they are asked. So list your common-law partner, your parents, your children if any, and all of your siblings. Your common-law partner does not fill this form out - when they say the common-law partner fills it out too, they say 'if applicable'. It is not applicable in your case because the common-law sponsor is already Canadian. These forms are generic forms used for other classes of immigrants as well, which is why they are worded in a confusing fashion.
The fact that your parents and siblings are not being sponsored does not matter for this form. For this form, they have to be listed anyway.

thank you canadianwoman.

1. 'Sponsored persons and family members' means you. You are the only person being sponsored. 'Family member' has a specific definition for immigration: it means the sponsored person's spouse, or common-law, or conjugal partner; and any dependent children. It does not include siblings, etc. (However, for the Additional Family Information form, you list all the people the form asks about.)
2. Yes, you have to include the documents asked for in Part 3. 'Sponsored relatives' means, in your case, you. You are applying outland, even though you are here visiting in Canada, so use the forms for the country of your nationality.

in part 3..there are same documents are asked such as proof of relation ship, birth certificate, as same as document check list 5491-sponsor..do i need to make 2 copies for every documants one for part3 other one is for document check list -sponsor??

hw to envelop them? everythin in one envelop or sponsor document in one, part3 documents and documents in one , put those two in one envelop??

I am sure these questions have been answered many times but no pinned topic.

You do not need to send two copies of any documents and proof. If they are asked for in two separate places, the visa officer will see it.
All three sections should be mailed together. Some people put each section in its own file folder or envelope, but this is not necessary. If it helps you keep track of everything, go ahead.

okay I am trying to fill the form but my family members surpass the space provided how do I get an extra sheet to add to it?is there a form of I need to use a normal plain sheet?

Just use a normal sheet.
