telling them to go and "try Australia or somewhere else", is not an option for most of them.

For all the generalizations about Canadians being nice people, there's always someone out there to disprove it.

However you perceive my comments is your problem. What I had posted we have now seen come to pass. I do not know everything but there are some things I know pretty well. What I posted was meant to provide them with a realistic expectation of events. I'm not fookin' Oprah. Immigration is not the church or a casino. God and luck play no part.

Concerning their beliefs they are the ones who brought them into the conversation. They are unwarranted and if anything gives people false hope. I will be careful in the future not to mention that there is no Santa Claus for fear of robbing someone of their Xmas spirit.

Ohhh Snap! Now you did it...

The first shot of this year's installment of "The War on Christmas" has begun!

:P

I wish this forum could be used to 'support' each other, rather than be the place to come to argue with others who are also frustrated with the situation....

Its all about context.

Every other western country that allows for student immigration is currently not having any labour disputes. So there may be some people who are able to see alternatives rather than having their time and money wasted while this dispute is ongoing. Visitor visas are transient and requests for them will always be in demand regardless. Work visas don't not work in favour of Canadians and/or new Permanent Residents looking for employment. The worst affected are the family class. These are the people who will get the worst of it. Grossly protracted processing times can do untold damage to relationships and finances.

Do not mistake my frankness of facts and events as a lack of care and kindness. In telling you the truth I believe I have shown you the greatest of support.

That's hard evidence. It would be very tough to dispute it. ;D

If only that were true, but it isn't. Fraudsters can afford to wait. Real relationships get so strained by the being apart that they can fail.
With all due respect, your comment is naive at best.

Hey zardoz
Thank yo by the way. I totally agree with you but in another case we should look for the something to make our relationship clear and to show them being apart make us stronger and keep us in hope all the time they will resume to work in anyway they just waistlng there time and keep people worrying all the time, but for me I learn a lesson for being waiting for all my life I wish to any couple good news soon

Statement by the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board-PAFSO Negotiations

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 26, 2013) - On July 26, the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, and the Honourable Chris Alexander, Minister for Citizenship and Immigration Canada, made the following statement:
"The Government of Canada has put forward an offer to the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) that is fair to PAFSO members and taxpayers. We are disappointed that PAFSO was so quick to reject our willingness to enter into a binding arbitration process that the union itself requested.
"In the past month, the Government has reached tentative agreements with two unions representing aviation inspectors and correctional officers. These deals were reached because the bargaining agents' approaches were fair and reasonable.
"In contrast, PAFSO continues to insist on making unreasonable comparisons between substantively different jobs in the Public Service.
"We will continue to bargain in good faith and welcome constructive efforts to reach a timely and reasonable settlement that fully restores the diplomatic, consular and other services Canadians pay for and expect.
"In the meantime, we continue to take steps to ensure the timely processing of visas. The Canadian public is deeply concerned by PAFSO's willingness to disrupt international business, including tourism, during our busy spring and summer seasons.
"However, we want to reassure Canadians and our international friends that, despite PAFSO's actions, Canada remains open for business, and that we continue to welcome visitors and international students to experience Canada."
If there is a discrepancy between any printed version and the electronic version of this statement, the electronic version will prevail.

Note the important part...

Canada remains open for business, and that we continue to welcome visitors and international students to experience Canada.

Notice the lack of concern for family class...

The Government is concerned only about the money that is not coming from the students and tourist visitors and also to look good for the private sector, that must be pushing for something to be done about it.

Ha. I guess that demonstrates how little I type "Santa Claus". But, my typo may be slightly less embarrassing than your apparent wealth of knowledge of a Tim Allen movie. ???

good film. . . .

My two cents, from yet another thread on the subject, they may not add much to the discussion, but none the less my two cents...

By "all services" do they really mean completely stop working altogether?

Yes the next logical steps are for the Government to lock them out, so they can not enter the buildings. And/Or deem them essential services and get court orders ruling them back to work. At this point if they where ordered back, under essential service rules, expect things to move at an absolute crawl.

Right now given this governments disposition, I would expect to see injunctions of some form against the unions strike lines. Although the rules would very by jurisdiction, I am sure. Some countries may be more open to public labour action protests (picket lines) on the sidewalks outside the embassies some may not.

Right now I would lean towards seeing the injunctions, and Management and exempt staff moved into postilion to process as many economic visa's (business, advanced education, and visitor) and family class immigration pushed to the very back of the que. Unless it is for a big shot, then it would get handled outside the regular stream of applications.

Just my opinion, as a member of my local union exec, and a experienced labour council member and as an experienced negotiating committee member.

I am adding my comments here to avoid filling the forum with yet more short threads on the subject
