Flagpoling at Osoyoos

I got my registered letter confirming COPR today, hurray!

I am in Canada already. The closest border crossing is Osoyoos, BC. I have a couple of questions: should I just show up and go through the process or is it best to tell them in advance to expect me? (And how would I go about that?)

Secondly, in the list of documents I am expected to bring is this item: •your proof of legal status in Canada, such as a valid work permit, study permit, temporary resident permit, or visitor document, or any immigration document you have (whether valid or not).

I don't have any of those items. I am here as a visitor but immigration did not give me any visitor document and didn't even stamp my British passport. Is this going to present a problem for me?

Congratulations! Are you going to live in the Okanagan?

My husband landed (flagpole) in Osoyoos in July, it went great! Note that immigration is not 24 hours, they do have a schedule different from the border crossing. I believe it is 8am to midnight.

We brought no such document, and the actual COPR leaflet says nothing about that document, so don't worry about it. Just say you weren't given one if it's an issue. They never even asked.

It was a younger guy who landed him, he was nice and we had no wait time at all. It's a good place to land imo.

Thank you Aquakitty :)

Yes, we just moved to Summerland a month ago. We overspent on a car, on a house, and on a king bed. Saltines and peanut butter for a few months now until we balance the books!

Hi Polixenes,
Did you do your crossing at Osoyoos? If so, how did it go? I'm also in the Okanagan andam considering doing a land crossing rather than a flight to Seattle.

Thanks

I would like to know as well!! I also live in Okanagan, was thinking about going to the states for a trip but then after checking the flight tickets I'm considering flagpoling at Osoyoos too.

Maybe I can pick you up on the way :)

With two kids to take it'll be a lot cheaper for me to drive than fly.

Okanagan members unite! I am not sure if I will end up doing my landing at an airport, or if I will drive my car up to the Osoyoos border. It seems like such a relaxed place to land.

It's nice to finally see some Okanagan people. Guess you guys live there already. How is it moving there? Any international things going on? If anyone might feel like meeting up some time, you can send me a PM. I have to add I'm only moving in April/May.

Even though Seattle is only an hour's flight and I'm close to the airport, I'm still leaning towards driving. I can decide what time to leave home and how long to spend in the US (I read somewhere that you need to be a couple of hours to allow the system to catch up).

Seattle's still on the weekend-away to-do list :)

You don't need to spend any time in the US. Just tell the US agent that you are flagpoling and they will send you round to the Canadian side.

could you please describe a little bit more about the flagpolling process in osoyoos, like do we need to drive the car to us side booth? or I park the car and walk there... because I notice that there's no office building there, only several booths on both Canada and US sides.

Thank you very much!
