Hello.

My wife received her Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR/IMM 5688) today. We applied outland in October 2012, but have been in Canada since December 2013 (wife is visa exempt). I just want some clarification on some points that I'm not clear about.

1) What is the validity of the COPR? Is it the date when the medicals expire? Valid to: 2014/12/20 (meds valid until then) is written on my wife's COPR.
2) Can I phone CIC's Call Centre to book a time to "land" instead of flag-polling? My wife and I live in Edmonton. I really don't want to drive down to the border to "land" in winter.
3) What is the waiting time to "land" if I book an appointment at a Citizenship and Immigration office? I haven't called CIC's Call Centre yet as it is already closed for the day.
4) The COPR is only one page!?

Thanks in advance.

1) You are right, till meds expire
2) Yes you can, flagpoling is fastest
3) Depends on the office
4) 1 page with 2 copies ( 1 with photo, 1 without )

You cannot, flag poling only done via Land Border

Congratulations on finally getting COPR. It was quite a long battle for you guys and I'm glad to hear things finally worked out for you.

Some cities it takes weeks, some it takes several months.
It all depends what city, and how busy they happen to be. So most people make the trip to USA to land instantly. With a 5-6 hr drive, you could always make it a 2-day trip! All depends how quickly you want the PR status.

Thanks! I'm glad that we can finally relax. However, I'm still bitter about the whole experience. According to my wife's GCMS notes, CIC apparently lost documents I sent to prove my intent to re-establish in Canada. Sending them again added three months to our wait time.

I thought that might be the case with "landing" at a CIC office. I have a feeling that the wait time in Edmonton, or anyplace in Alberta, might be months. The wife and I might go back to Japan this spring for hanami (cherry blossoms are in bloom). It's my favorite time of the year in Japan.

congratulations !!!! so happy for your wife ;)

Congratulations!! Glad to hear you got some good results after all this time!

Congratulations!

I just landed on the 15th.

1. Seems like it. Even though my meds should have expired last year in October, but COPR, which I received on the 14th of this month, expires in October this year. I think they got an extension of 1 year on my meds.

2. You can call CIC and book an appointment.

3. For my office in Toronto, the wait time was 4.5 months!!!! so obliviously I just went to the border and did my landing. Took 5 hours all together.

4. One page, 2 copies. They will keep one copy and give you the other.
