The ban stays

How long it will stay?
Until 2024

What everyone needs to be reminded of is that the applicant alone, you, is responsible for any immigration application so makes no difference the fact an agent submitted fraudulent documents on your behalf as it your application not the agents

After five years have passed you can apply for a visa.

After five year it will keep in mind by immigration or all will clear . There will not be remember ?
It will still be in their system, it's not about their minds..
Everything is documented and when you apply in 2024, you will have to disclose this in the section that asks if you were ever refused into Canada.

I know of someone who got a ban and when they were reapplying they didn't answer truthfully and they were deemed inadmissible for 10 years.

No - it won't be clear. The fact you received a 5 year ban will remain in the system forever. This will not go away after 5 years. If you apply for a visa after the 5 year ban is over, you must declare that you were previously refused a visa to Canada and banned.
