First month in Canada on PR

everyone here is an immigrant except for natives (who you don't see much around) so no one really bothers about who you are and where you came from, i moved from England and i experienced real racism over there but here mostly people are friendly and helpful

Yes i agree with Sonea. I am here in Calgary and all i see are foreign faces and i keep asking where are the Canadian themselves? I have not gotten the answer. I think i like it here. You go about your business and no one really disturbs you.

I am one month old and still looking for Job. At the moment i am doing i survival job, but considering taking a course.
Hoping things will get better.

What makes me happy is my daughter likes it here so much and she is 9, she was placed in grade 4. She is doing well in school. This was like one of the most important reason that moved me here so i am happy she likes it here.

I applied for the grant and they asked me, if i am working and when i said no she said it is for those who have worked and paid taxes to the government. I have taken survival job and started doing it and i will go back to the office again by next week. I am a new immigrant and qualified to get the grant. Like it is always the case when you meet different people.

i didn't apply for the grant and my husband had US degree so he didn't have any trouble getting a job straight away but i know many people who did apply for grants they go directly to universities like NAIT, MacEwan, or university of Alberta and just tell them that they need to upgrade as their credentials are not recognized here and they are facing difficulty in finding a proper job .. then the universities do the evaluation on their own and let you know about the suitable programs they have grant available for

Well in Alberta loans & grants are provided by Student Aid Alberta.You might qualify for them although,I believe usually loans and grants are available only to students of post-secondary education.Besides,one needs to be financially eligible for the loans & grants.No idea whether CGA or CPA qualifies for that criteria.However,you could qualify for Immigration Access Fund .

They fully support you in grant, loan is different as you have to pay it back later, for details on any specific course u will have to visit the universities to discus you case in particular
