Has anyone here met their sponsored spouse or sponsor through facebook? Is that gonna hurt a spousal application if they met through facebook?

My husband and I met on Facebook. Our COPR is in the mail :D

I also met my partner via social media, although it wasn't Facebook. Sponsorship and PR application took about ten months. CIC is well aware that many romantic relationships get started on the Internet now. The important thing is not so much 'how' you first met (although that should be explained), but showing how the relationship has developed and solidified (the more time spent together in person, the better), proving that the relationship is genuine and not for the primary purpose of immigration.

My husband and I met on a forum. It's really not that unusual these days to meet online. :)

Hi Canstralian/Oznadia. How did you and your husband met in Facebook? Did you have a mutual friend who introduced you?

Met my wife through Facebook but introduced to her profile through a colleague. The first year and a half was spent online. She has just submitted her passport and waiting for COPR.

I don't think it is a problem I met my wife online too and have been together for almost 6 years now, you will need to show a proof of the development of the relationship.

So in the question "Did anyone introduce you to your sponsor?" What did you guys write? Did you write the name of your colleague who introduced you to her Facebook profile?

Anyone here just randomly found each other in Facebook without anyone introducing them?

Yes. I broke down the timeline of events including why my colleague even mentioned her to me. I was not interested in a long distance relationship. I contacted her initially just to be polite to my colleague. Ten months later we are talking everyday either through Skype or text. After 14 months I went to visit. The rest is history.

It is very common these days that people meet online. Nothing to be either ashamed of or concerned about.

My husband and I met randomly in a chat room. In answer to that question, I replied "No", as we were not introduced by anyone.

Thanks for the answer! I see in your timeline "pics resent" did they ask for originals?

And also, my husband and I met on facebook, we weren't introduced by anyone, he just added me randomly and then we talked. do I have to explain that in our application, or is it enough to just say, we met on facebook and started talking, and answer NO we weren't introduced by anyone.

We met through an app on Facebook randomly and began chatting. No one introduced us. That's what we put in our application.
