Hi All,

Looking for some quick advice if anyone has the knowledge...

1. When it comes to fingerprints, can we send in our application without them (in order to get the process started) and simply provide them at the time that CIC asks for them? Don't want to wait an extra month or two to send in the application. Will this hold up the initial processing of our application and sponsor review?

2. What is my best course of action to describe any specific situation of our that CIC should be made aware of (Ie- my wife is pregnant, can we get help processing to possibly get healthcare coverage quicker). Has anyone written a letter that they have included with their application that would be able to let us in on some secrets?

I dont think CIC need your fingerprint, what you need to do is to go to the commissionaire close to you, then do the fingerprint. The fingerprint will be given to you, then you will send it together with your passport data page with passport photos to someone you know in your home country. With this the person will help you to obtain police clearance certificate which you will submit with your application. i hope the information helps.

While it's never a good idea to send an incomplete application, CIC seems to realize that sending the PCC (not fingerprints) at a later date, is fairly common for a person that is submitting an Inland application. They have also been, somewhat, lenient for an Outland applicant as well, but it's probably riskier.

2. Every province is different, but in B.C., the applicant is eligible as soon as CIC receives their PR application. The waiting period is 2 months, plus the balance of the month that the application was received. This, however, often requires a bit of a fight with them to acknowledge their own policy!

Good stuff. Thank you both. We are heading to MB and there is no waiting period. So my intention is to apply for it as soon as we have sent the package.

As far as fingerprints I will have to send without and hope it does not cause an issue. Seems like a lengthy process that might be best to undertake while we wait for processing.

I am confused a bit by this. Is a police clearance from the USA acceptable in the eyes on CIC? Those are easy to get for people still living in the US. I was under the assumption that we were to send fingerprints to the FBI and wait for that clearance, then sedn those results to CIC with the application. Sorry if I am misunderstanding you, but it would save a lot of time and money to simply include a police clearance.

If she is a US resident, then you would sent the print card to the FBI and they will in turn send the clearance to you. Be aware that by not including the PCC you run the risk of having the applicaiton returned to you as incomplete. This may not happen for several months and if they return your application you will have to begin again from ground 0. It is, by far, in your best interest to get the required PCC's and then submit a complete application. While CIC has 'turned a blind eye' in some cases for this 'oversight' you can't bank on them continuing the practice. This is an important step for both you and your spouse don't take it lightly.

yes you are correct. the other poster may come from another country where the process is different. just follow the rules on the FBI website, submit it with your application, and there will be no issue.
