FINGERPRINTS REQUEST, CIC's new delaying tactic?

I applied for Citizenship in August 2016, in December of the same year I got a letter saying to come and take the test, which I passed early January 2017. A couple weeks later I got a letter that said I needed to get fingerprints taken. I did that in mid February. I have not received anything since then. So my questions is did people get confirmation that CIC got the fingerprints? If not, was there a way to check with them? I called the phone number but the automated system did not give an option for my question. Generally, after fingerprints were recieved, how long did people have to wait for the ceremony?

If CIC customer service is busy, keep calling the call centre until the system puts you on hold to talk to an agent. Also contact the fingerprint agency to check if they have forwarded the fingerprint results.
Did you receive any paperwork from fingerprint agency, if yes, it could be original fingerprints and if you have original fingerprints you need to make sure to send it to the local cic office who asked for it.
Keep checking your e-cas, physical mail and email for any updates.

When would you get the oath is unpredictable, so it can take few days to few weeks to few months. Good luck!

Get your local MP(member of parliament) to check on your behalf with CIC. Sometimes that is helpful.

I would not get my MP involved at this stage. It is still very much within the normal time and frankly I would be worried to upset CIC with unnecessary phone calls and pressure.

But sir it's taking almost 4 months since they receive the fingerprints results in total it's 6 months so I don't know exactly if it's still normal taking 6 months cause my 2 friends application took like 4 months in total but mine is 6 but still no test invite nothing

The official time frame is 12 months. They clearly say that anything within this time frame is normal.

I'm wondering did you submit finger print at the start when you submitted your application?

When you submit your citizenship application at first, one of the required documents to include in your application is a original police certificate for each country that you have been for a total of 183 or more in the 4 years immediately before the date of your application. One of these countries is definitely Canada itself as you have been living in Canada. So, you need a police certificate with finger print from Canada to include in your application when you submit it at first.

Thanks

This is not accurate: "One of these countries is definitely Canada itself as you have been living in Canada. So, you need a police certificate with finger print from Canada to include in your application when you submit it at first."

No police certificate for Canada is required. Only applicants who spent a total of six months in a country other than Canada during the preceding four years need to provide a police clearance/certificate for that country (or countries). See the application form itself. This is straightforward.

While Fingerprint requests are common, the majority of applicants (probably by a very wide margin) do not get a finger print request. Most FP requests are relatively routine (even though the IRCC definition of non-routine processing includes a FP request as something which makes that application non-routine, which merely distinguishes whether an application is included or not in IRCC's routine processing time line), and do not result in much of a delay if the FPs are timely and properly submitted.

For some applicants (a minority), sure, the FP request can be part of a bigger issue, something potentially problematic. With minimal exceptions, most applicants in this group are already aware of a potential issue, a prospective problem in their situation, and protests to the contrary tend to lack credibility. How serious the particular issue, the particular problem, is, that varies widely and depends on just what it is about. No generalizations apply except the obvious and ubiquitous it varies and varies widely, and it depends.

Most who get a FP request simply need to provide the FPs timely and all will go well and without much delay.

And, again, applicants do NOT need to provide a Canadian police certificate when they apply for citizenship.

PR status itself doesn't have expiry date. (Status is permanent). Are you referring to your PR card?

Anyway, be patience, you are still within the 12 months timeframe.

Can anyone post a fully edited extract from the FP request letter?, just curious if FP requests are generic or unique to every Citizenship applications
