Hi All,

Can you anyone Suggest me a center where I can get my finger printing done in New Jersey. I live in Kearny, NJ (ZIP: 07032) . I called my local police department and the Identgo center. The loacal police department no longer does fingerprinting and Identgo said they dont do it for the federal purpose. Please suggest.

Thanks.

Did you try the Sheriff's office? Or try with NYPD.

I live in Elizabeth, NJ. Was able to get it done at the police department here. They provide the service for Elizabeth residents. We walked in with FD-258 form and identity proof and got it done in 10 mins. You should be able to get it done near where you stay.

Where did you get the FD-258 from? Did you print it at home?

If you go to the police department or the sheriff, they have the state and federal forms, which they will provide for free. They will charge you $10-20 for the fingerprinting, which includes the cost of the card.

My wife's town's PD told us they don't have cards for citizens' use, if we got the cards ourselves they could take the prints. New Jersey :)

Yes the PD in Elizabeth also specifically asked to bring the fingerprinting card.

Check for your nearest police station here - http://www.myfbireport.com/locations/index.php

From my experience in CT, I went there paid $5 and they took my finger prints on an electronic device and the device printed it on the FD-258 form. I did not carry this form they had it. So best to check with your nearest police station. According to the FBI website https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks you can print this form on a regular A4 paper but then you would have to use the fingerprinting ink at the police station.
Again contact the nearest police station and make sure you confirm everything. Specially the timings. in CT they only do it on Wednesdays from 2- 5 PM. Lastly, get this done ASAP. It takes 8-10 weeks for FBI to process your request.

I went through the mentioned website. The PD in my area does not do the fingerprinting nor does the sheriff office.

Do not worry. Just buy this from nearest Office Depot or Staples - https://goo.gl/0fg4rv
print out the FD-258 form on a standard A4 paper and follow this video to take fingerprints -

make sure you take 2-3 prints (not copies but original prints) FBI can deny if your prints are not clear so provide them extras.
