Hi Priset,

I am a 2003 applicant, and am also in the same boat. Since I had lived in USA for one year (currently in Mumbai), I too need to obtain FBI Fingerprint clearance. Since there is no professional fingerprinting agency, that I am aware of, in Mumbai, I thought I could download the card from the internet and do the fingerpriting myself. But the size of the card (A4) is inadequate, the paper is too thin, and my effort to take the prints myself has only resulted in wastage of several dozen sheets of paper, with not even a single sheet giving proper result!

How did you obtain the Fingerprint card? By writing to FBI? Is it any different from the normal A4 size paper?

If you figure out a way to do the fingerprinting properly, please let me also know. Thanks in advance.

Hi
Is it possible that I can submit police certificates at a later stage because it takes 16 weeks and my application is almost ready or should I wait for it ?

Thanks

Try the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai. They can probably take your fingerprints for a fee.

The FBI is fast. I received mine in three weeks. Just remember to put a deadline on the cover letter and the envelope. If you print the card on thicker paper, like 160 g/m2, it should be fine. The FBI has even vidoes on how to get good rolled fingerprints on their website.

I dont know how difficult it is to get a fingerprinting done in India for a Police clearance certificate (PCC). I got it done from one of the private fingerprinting agency in India. Hope all works well and I am able to get a PCC. They guided me well in how to send Finger print cards to US. I would strongly recommend there services. U can visit there website www.indiafingerprinting.com

JK consulting is expensive. You can get the Finger printing done from local property registrar office also.

JK Consultancy is really expensive.

I spoke to them and I have to take fingerprint for USA and SINGAPORE for myself and my wife. Total 6 fingerpint set.

I am from Bangalore and so they said it would cos 26000Rs.

I would rather take a flight and goto US and get it done with little more cost.

Hi Priset,

if you are in chennai then you have to goto the State Criminal Records Bureau which is on Santhome High Road. There is a huge wedding hall called Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Kalyana Mandapam, diagnolly opp that hall is the State Crime Records Bureau. Go there and speak to them. They will give you a challan with their a/c details and seal on it, you have to take that challan to SBI treasury branch which is opposite Churchpark Convent on Mount Road. Pay 50 Rs there and get the counterfoil of the challan back to the State Crime Records Bureau. Then they will take your fingerprint and it will be attensted by the Commissionor of Police Fingerprints dept and given to you. This is how you obtain the original govt attested fingerprints in chennai for immigration to any country.

Post this the process varies...pls contact the US embassy for further details.

Hope this helps

Cheers,

All the Best & God Bless,
Rishab

Thanks Sandhya for your feedback. I have heard very good feedback from other folks as well including calgirl.
But for us affordability was a concern. What is affordable for one person may be expensive for others. I hope you will understand our point. These guys asked INR 3500/- per finger print card, which for me was very expensive, when got the same services for Rs 200/- from property registrar office.

Best of luck for your immigration process

I called JK Consultancy first and they quoted the same rate as Ankit stated.

Rishab's post is true. I got it done in Chennai through the SCRB on Santhome high road by following the same process.

There are government certified fingerprint expert who took ample care in getting me a complete set of Fingerprint cards. YES They showed samples too so I don't think that's any reason to shell out thousands of rupees. Once they took the fingerprint, the expert went through it in detail with a magnifying glass and a superior officer then certified it to be as per standards.

It was a very pleasant experience - something I didn't expect in a government office.

For other cities, look for the Forensic Department in your town and go talk to them. If Ankit or someone else finds details about getting this done in other cities, please post them as it will help readers greatly.
