hi isarog,

Course Code Desc Status CGA Academic Level
EM1 Micro and Macro Economics EXempt 1
FA1 Financial Acctg Fundamentals EX 1
FA2 Financial Acctg: Assets EX 2
QU1 Business Quantitative Analysis EX 2
FA3 Fin Acctg: Liabilities and Equities EX 3
MS1 Managing Information Systems EX 3
FA4 Fin Acctg: Consolidations and Adv Issues EX 4

i am appealing for the ff to be exempted as well:

Managing Accounting Fundamentals
Business Communication
Corporate Finance Fundamentals
Advanced Management Accounting
External Auditing
Accounting Theory and Contemporary Issues
Information Systems Strategy

im hoping they will inform me of the result in 2 weeks time kasi Feb 9 ko pa napadala sa kanila ang supporting dox ko, and they replied 6-8 weeks ang appeal process.

if i were u, maximize mo application mo ;D ;D ;D hanggat kaya ng blank spaces at nandun din naman sa TOR mo ang equivalent course, go for it, kasi wlang mawawla sa u. ang mahal kaya ng assessment fee nila, whether u apply for lesser subjects, still d same ang amount due.

re: PICPA cert, may dry seal naman sila ah,i think yun lang ang important kasi my note sa baba ng cert na NOT VALID WITHOUT SEAL yng picpa cert. yun lng nirequest ko, not necessarily in a sealed envelope. ;) ako nagpadala sa CGA with the rest of my dox.

good luck!
Hi Mimi!

Thank you for your prompt reply! :D

Sobra naman sila! MA Fundamentals as well as Advanced MA should have been credited. E may cost accounting pa nga tayo di ba?  External Auditing and Accounting Theory should also have been considered.

Thank you nga din pala for the tip! ;D Tama nga naman, bayad na yun. Hangat pwede, itry natin. :p :p :p

Parang ibang-iba. :'( :( Pero bahala na si Batman! Laban kung laban. Pinasok natin 'to kaya panindigan natin. :D :D ;)

Para we can "Lets get reaaady to ruuuuumble" na! ;D)

@ All: Good luck and may God bless us with all of our endeavors! Kaya natin 'to!

I have submitted my TOR for evaluation both to CGA and CMA. I have the results from the two already. I am not so happy with the assessment from CGA. I still need to take 12 subjects plus CM1 and BC1 upon completion of IQAS assessment. The reason maybe is because I did'nt submit PICPA current letter of good standing that's why fast track was not granted to me. However, CGA is requiring me to submit the said letter for possible fast track.. I am still working for it right now. Advices were given to me from a Filipino CGA here in Alberta that it is alright to take more subjects because it will help me build up the foundation needed for higher level of cga courses and for national exams. But considering the costs of taking more courses and the time.. I would prefer to take few courses, right? Also, I am still thinking between CGA or CMA but since CGA is more on accounting, I prefer the latter. But my concern most is between the two designation which will offer me more opportunities. I am doing a survival job right now, I have submitted resumes for several accounting jobs and companies don't seem to care. Sadly, they don't recognize whatever education and experiences we have.. others are so lucky to be landed in a job related to accounting or just to be in office work. I hope that just being a student in CMA and CGA will open doors for opportunities.
Please share infos and experiences with the program. Do you guys landed in a good job after enrolling to CGA or CMA program.

Hi Anapie23 question lang on the process for CGA. Did you submit TOR while you are still in the Philippines? TOR lang ba sinubmit mo or did you have your credentials assessed already? Medyo nalilito kse ako sa process nila. Thanks in advance

Nope, i have it submitted when I am here in Canada. Reading their website, it's the certified true copy of TOR that they need basically. But I also submitted my proof of residency, marriage certificate because of the change of surname, certificate of rating and PRC certificate. Had i found out about this web before the submission, I would have included the letter of good standing because I learned that it will help fast track the program. In Alberta, the evaluation fee is 95 canadian dollars plus GST. You will learn more if you read the website. With CMA nman, wala cla evaluation fee..and I am considering it right now since eligible n q s accelerated program. And that is 7-months of studying before taking the CMA entrance exam. so, prang CPA board review lang. But, it is after you passed the entrance exam that you will have the real deal.. 2 years Statretegic Leadership Program, you have to write business case exam on the first year, then group defense after the second year. CGA is more attainable than CMA.. kya lng with my CGA assessment, ayoko na ulitin ung mga subjects na na-take q n sa pinas. ok lng sana kung mura..per subject you must have a budget of 1500 cad dollars. atleast with CMA ung 11thou dollars s SLP for two years may mga bago ka matutunan. Though, i must admit na d q mxadu linya management, marketing, human resources na dapat master din when taking the CMA program. So, you're still in the Philippines pa po ba?

CGA-Alberta Evaluation Process (as per my experience)

1. Sent an inquiry via email re process and required docs
<questions @ cga-alberta.org>
2. Asked by CGA to create a profile on their website. A number will then be assigned to you (somewhat similar to AOR).
3. Sent the required documents for Evaluation (indicate the number assigned on item#2)
- Certified True Copy of Transcript
- PICPA Certificate of Good Standing (in PICPA sealed envelope)
- Copy of resume (if graduated 10 years of more)
4. Paid the Evaluation fee (less than CAD100) online - via credit card

Notes:
1. Certified True Copy - I submitted a copy which was certified by our school registrar way back in year 2006 and they accepted it
2. PICPA - A friend got the certificate on my behalf at PICPA's main office at Shaw. I just gave her an authorization letter and my PRC card (not sure now if it was the original or just a photocopy). The last payment I did was way back in 1996 so they assessed me to pay 4,500 pesos up to June 2011 (4.5 years, Php1K/year). Sorry for me, they said there was no amnesty at that time. Then additional 100 pesos for the certification. Heard from the same friend, it is for free if you get it from your designated PICPA chapter. I believe it was pretty quick and she got it the same day. I just requested for 2 copies of the certificate and 2 PICPA envelopes din so ako na lang naglagay ng address sa envelope.

Hope this helps.

Hi pachochay, how did you send your docs to CGA? ;D

If you wish to take course through CGA online studies, CGA allows students to take one course at a time. Assuming you are working full time and taking part time study, you should be able to finish 4 courses per year. However, you may speed up your study by taking more courses at post secondary institution. With CGA, you have the options to pursue this designation at your own pace. if you wish to study full time and take perhaps 3 to 4 courses per semester (at the post secondary institution), you can finish 10 courses per year. CGA told me that PICPA current member in good standing will be place in to the CGA fast track which may receive more exemptions. Hoping that I will be granted more exemptions, and will have to take only 7 courses. So, I can finish it in less than two years. With the current result of my assessment, it will take me 3 years to finish the program. So, hoping na dumating na sana nirerequest q n letter from PICPA na hnde nman nagrereply sa email q.tsk! I got all the infos from reading their website, so you may want to do so.=)

i forgot pla, both program requires practical professional experience. sa CMA 2 years, CGA 3 years.. the last year should be at senior level. so unless you fulfill the required practical experience still d mu pa mkukuha designation mu though you've passed all the exams na.

settle all the documents first. the transcript evaluation is valid only for one year, so you may not want to hurry with the submission.

Meron ba dito planning to go through the CMA program and take the Accelerated Program? I just wanted to know what the effort will be like for studying and taking the exams. I know it should be done as part-time effort, but it seems 7 months of studying all the CMA subjects seems too intense. I will be taking CMA Accelerated Program starting August 2011, it will be done by April 2012, and hopefully take the Entrance Exam in June 2012.. After that, SLP of two years.. Whoa, long processs.. tsk tsk..

Hi Jaysite,

To all: tama po yung payo ng ka-member natin. Gaya ko masyado atat, by September this year expired na. Eh, till now ni wala pa kaming MR so uulit na naman ng evaluation at bayad.

Goodluck po sa lahat. God Bless.

Hi pachochay, how did you send your docs to CGA? ;D
