Hi,

i entered canada in Oct 2013 and got married to my husband (PR) in Nov 2013. i've just sent out my inland PR application in mid-February so my current status is still a visitor... i believe when my husband filing his 2013 income tax then his marrital status will became "married"...a few questions need your help please:

1) does he need to change the status from single to married before he file his income tax?
2) can my husband claim me as dependant and get some deduction on tax since he is sponsoring me to immigrate to Canada?

well, he has been working really hard in 2013 (for two jobs) for saving money to support our life while waiting my inland PR process to be finalized...but it now seems he is very likely need to pay the tax due to the income from two jobs... :( this is really frustrating for us cus those money are for settle down our life since i cannot work before i get the PR :(

does anyone know any tips that he can pay less tax in this case?

Once you are married you need to change your status from CRA. Yes, he claim spousal amount and dependant amount.
