Did anyone of u appear for IELTS test. My entire education was in english and I am in US for last 5 years. Do I have to appear for test or write a letter to immigration. Pls suggest???
Meena1208, I would suggest that you take the IELTS. The Visa Officer does the assessment based on your first language and that is decided by the country where you were born or where you are an original citizen of. Only these countries are accepted to have their first language as English - US, UK, Australia, New Zealand. Even my whole education has always been in English and I am in the US from last 3 years, but that doesn't matter. Why take the risk? IELTS is pretty easy and gives you a hard proof to submit. However, if you still want to write an explanation instead, I can provide you the format for the letter (It is of 4 pages). Send me your personal e-mail and I can send it to you.
