Silly question, does it cost more money from this point on? I mean when I go to land do I need to pay more cash for the PR card?

Hi guys!

My daughter finally received her Canadian citizen certificate!! It took her like 5 months!!! :o

Now I can submit both documents (the FBI certificate n her proof of Canadian citizen) that Detroit office asked for my PR.

More wait for me but at least it's moving along finally!!!!

No.

Only costs you should have to incur are going to be moving/travel :P

Kess, no issue there, I've already been here for three years!!! One year Visitor's record, 18 months out-of-status, then another three Visitor's Records ;)

Woot! Very lucky there. We're not looking forward to about $1600 + tax/insurance/fuel for a uhaul :(

Ouch...I lived very close to where I am now (just 40 minutes over the border), so I just did a few trips in my vehicle to get my stuff over. According to everything I've read my experience was completely abnormal. They let me move all my stuff over before I had even applied.

Me either, only we are looking at more like 2250 for Uhaul/tax/insurance/gas for Uhaul and 2 other vehicles (our personal vehicles we'll import).
Blech!

Where are you moving from/to? Our's is LA to Abbotsford, BC. Although it's 1200 instead of 1600 if we do the drop off in Bellingham instead of in Canada.

Your traveling much further than I am! We are going 575 miles. But, we need the largest drivable UHaul which comes in at Just over 1K alone.
When we moved here from Canada 13 years ago, gas was almost 600 for a smaller Uhaul, so I was guessing high on that.
Then we have the other vehicles, actually 3 we'll have to drive back. SIL and her hubby are coming to help us and we'll need to pay their gas as well. So Uhaul and 3 vehicles to pay gas on.

I'm California to Newfoundland!! I'd kill to get all my stuff there for $1,600 or even $2,500 lol
I'm ending up having to sell everything and start over. Shipping quotes to get my stuff over there is outrageous!

Cali to Newfoundland.. wow that is a long haul!!

I really wish my hubby could sell most of his stuff. Unfortunately most of his prized pocessions are books/comics/manga/etc that he has collected over the years. Can't really ask him to part with it. He's getting rid of most of his furniture at least :)

I'm heading down in November to help him finish packing and to put his stuff in storage. He'll be coming to visit until the app is done. Our plan is a suitcase or two of cloths, xbox 360, ps3, computer, and a cat. Think that will do a nerd for a 6 month visit?

Totally!!!!!!!!....especially now that Canada has Netflix. Aaaaaaand on top of that, Buffalo/Satellite offices have sped up lately so it will likely be much sooner than 6months that he will land!! Good luck ;)

Lol! We are packing up a 4 bedroom + house, which we get to store until we can get a house, which sounds super fun. :( SIL has offered her basement for us to live in though, so at least it's not rent + storage. That's if hubby can get work in that town.
