fees for spouse sponsorship - unclear!?

Hi Im hoping someone can help me here.

Sorry if this is a repost, I know this subject has been talked about to death, but I searched this forum and I couldn't find anyone talking about the same issue

I'm trying to pay fees for sponsorship of my wife for Perm. residency (applying from abroad) and I can't work out the difference between "principal applicant" and "Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner"

My instinct is to just click spouse and pay the extra money, but is this correct?


So my total should be:

Sponsorship application (per application) $75.00
Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550.00
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00
=================================
$1115 ?

Fee subject to a transitional provision - Family member of the principal applicant who is 22 years of age or older $550.00
Fee subject to a transitional provision - Family member of the principal applicant who is under 22 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship OR is 22 years of age or older who is unable to be financially self-supporting due to physical or mental condition $150.00
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00

no, that is not correct. the total amount for 1 applicant is $1040, as follows:

Sponsor fee: $75
Principle applicant fee: $475
Right of Permanent residency fee: $490

the spouse fee is for when 2 spouses are being sponsored together by a third person. this does not apply to spousal sponsorship applications.

i was also confused, don't remember why this one, not the 550$ for common law or conjugal partner. maybe this was the one when you sponsor more members of the family, so you add fees? somebody else will probably explain

This is great info! I just realized that I didn't pay my Right of Permanent Residence Fee. Does anybody know if they will reject my application outright, or will they just ask for another payment?

No worries! CIC will simply ask you to pay it when your application has completed processing.
