I have been looking at this post for a year and finally decide to say sth there :)

I got the same email today saying my case is transferred to CIC-Ottawa and requesting updates on my personal information.

I submitted my application on in the mid of DEC, 2013 and it turns to in process in the end of July, 2014

Welcome Kevin and thank you for sharing your timeline. Hopefully there will be more good news soon as Ali_manu said.
Are you applying from inside or outside Canada?

This is a very formal email that may not have a significant impact on the whole processing time on one's file. It does not necessarily mean the the process of his application has just started.
I had a friend. He had almost the similar case, last year. Months after he went through "in process" he received the same email saying a transfer to Ottawa-CPP and asking for an update to personal and address history. The interesting thing was that he received PPR almost a week after he updated his personal and address information.

I think this is a good sign and he can probably receive some good news in few weeks (if not days). So I wish him luck.

I see. Thanks a lot Ali for the input! :)

I did my meds 1 month prior to sending my file to Sydney. Also, I paid the RPRF right away when I paid my application fees since the internet gave me the option. Has anyone of you done the same?

Oh, my application was filed on December 8th, 2014. Evidently I am still waiting for my AOR. I am hoping to receive it around mid-February.

I have been checking this thread periodically, so thought I would share my timeline as well. My application was submitted to Sydney in February 2014. My medicals were submitted shortly thereafter following a request in March. I have already submitted background checks and paid the required fee. I have heard nothing since the medical request, so I continue to wait...

Thanks guys for sharing.
Caribting, you didn't get an update that says that your application is in process on eCAS? It seems applications are taking around 12 months + or - 2 months... so hopefully, in the next couple of months, you'll hear something.

Dear xxxxx

This refers to your client’s application for Permanent Residence in Canada. Your file has been transferred to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa for further review. It will be reviewed by one of our officers, with priority given to applications that were received at CIC before December 1st, 2011.

I was also asked to send an updated schedule A from July 1 of 2014.

I don't know if the above was referred to me. However, the RPrF was requested in May of 2014. My application was received December 2013 and AOR in january

My status never changed to in process...it just says my application was received and then my medicals were received...I have had no updates after that...I have seen however that applications don't always change to in process before PR is received...hope you're right and we hear something soon :)

Just to keep you posted:
I just checked Canada post, My expresspost left Canada today.
And it says 2 to 9 days to deliver the packet
