Hello everybody,
I want to share with you guys my landing experience at local CIC office in Mintreal.
I went this morning and they called my name exactly on time. Very nice officer she was, asked me if I prefer English or French. (So no worries there if anybody's worried about that). I got all my papers out, COPR, passport with visa on it, CSQ and my current work permit. She verified all the documents, all in 1 minute maybe, she asked me the two routine questions; have I ever been convicted, refused admission or asked to leave Canada, and if I have any dependants outside Canada. She then left for 5 minutes, came back, asked me to sign the two copies of COPR, she explained to me that the ONLY residency obligation is to be 730 days out 5 years on Canadian soil. She then said you have the right to live anywhere in canada and go and come back as you please. Congratulations, you are now permenant resident." It was really nice and she was very nice too. Right after, I went to Service Canada and got my permenant SIN. After, my last stop was the regie to register for the Medicare. I finished the whole process in 3 hours. The regie took the most time because of the amount of people. Needles to say the difference between a federal branch and provincial branch was very noticeable in terms of service and attitude.
Anyway, I wish you guys all the best and for your wait to end. Sooner or later you guys will be done with it I as well.
If you ever have any questions or would like a second opinion, please feel free to send me.
Sam
