Hi,

Can someone help me out here and tell me if my time line is typical? I'm going crazy here waiting. I really want to make a round the world trip before I settle down and have a family but I don't want to leave Canada until after I'm eligible to apply for Citizenship which means 2 years after I get PR which I'm still waiting on, by that time I'll be 35 so getting on a bit for starting to have kids. So I need to decide if I should keep on waiting or just make my travels, abandoning Canada and return to settle in the UK.

Arrived in Canada on temporary work permit: September 2009
CSQ Application Submitted: October 2010
CSQ Interview and CSQ Granted: 12th February 2012 (Couldn't believe how long this part took, I was expecting 6 months)
Federal Application Received: 22nd February 2012
AOR From Ottawa + Request for Medicals: May 14th 2012
Medicals Done: May 22nd 2012

Ever since ECAS has been showing "Application Received February 22nd 2012, Medicals have been received".

So that's 2.5 years so far from the beginning of my application. Is this normal?

Thanks

Hey Beakster, that's normal, we are in the same time line. I have several friends with the same processing time, we don't have any updated news from Ottawa until today. One of my friend's open work permit had expired in January 2013, she sent email to Ottawa, their official response is to let her continue waiting in Canada even if she became a "Black Resident" as most of Buffalo guys in 2011... My open work permit will expire tomorrow, but I already came back to my country. It seems that CPP Ottawa ignore those new cases from March to May which transferred by Sydney in 2012. I don't hear any guys who finished medical examination from March to May 2012 receive PPR requests until now. One of my friends asked his lawyer who works in an immigration agency, the answer was similar: Wait Wait Wait til this May...

Let me share my time line with all:

Federal Application Received: March 8 2012
AOR From Ottawa + Request for Medicals: May 19 2012
Medicals Done: May 31 2012
Medical Report Received (E-cas): August 2012
PPR Request: Waiting...Waiting...Waiting...

Good Morning Forum....Its good to see so man people making progress and sharing their timelines. I have a question though....How many persons have been successful by applying outside of Quebec, have never worked there or have good english but no French?

Thanks for the info.

Hi. I was living in Toronto at the time I submitted my application and moved to Quebec 1 year after applying (6 months before my CSQ Interview). I only spoke very very basic french, like a few phrases. I did have to answer some basic questions in french during the interview. The fact that I already had a job here probably helped my success. I have heard that the requirements have changed now though and you need to take a french test so you should check that.

Thanks for the reply Beakster....no the requirements do not say you have to take the french test. I speak basic French and my husband who will be the primary applicant none at all, we start classes April 1st but our application needs to be sent in 2 weeks.

If you haven't already, check this as it probably applies to you: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/informations/applications-receipt.html

It takes months to get an interview so you should have a bit of French by the time it comes around. You can do the interview in English but they are looking to see that you are making an effort to learn French and are willing to try speaking it. You can get an idea of how long processing is taking here: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/permanent-workers/official-immigration-application/immigration-application/processing-times-table.html

Thanks Beakster, I have visited the site and we do have Degrees in areas that would award us the required points and have worked in the areas. In six months we should know quite a bit of French and by that time we would have done the TCF test as well. Thank you for sharing the timelines.
