I received reply from buffalol about my file. They moved it back from ottawa. Didn't even bother to notify me. I see many other people being transferred back to buffalo from ottawa. What was the point of ottawa then? My timeline is no different from those who always stayed in buffalo. Those who transferred to cpp-ottawa, you should ask where your file actually is, because maybe it's not where you think. :-\

Can I have two permits at a time? I'm on post-graduate work permit and I have study permit as well till the end of January. I want to apply for new study permit and go to school in January. Is it ok to have WP and SP at the same time? I'm asking because I gave up all hope to hear anything from this file-cemetery called buffalo anytime soon.

No, you can only have Off campus work permit with study permit. Since you have PGWP, that implies you have finished your studies, your SP is no longer valid. Also keep in mind, you can apply for PGWP only once, you will not have this option once you finish your new study program.

I suggest: Keep the hopes high and wait for PR.

Great. This means I'm pretty much screwed for 2012 as well. Thank you buffalol!!!
I honestly don't care about PGWP, I applied for it because I was afraid my study permit will expire before I hear from buffalo, but
then in October I decided to go back to school and got admitted. This is very sad, because I actually got a job too. My work permit says I must not study unless authorized, I though by authorization they mean study permit.

I suggest: Keep the hopes high and wait for PR.
Man, I have no hopes anymore, especially after Eng_Mtl said they had suspended our files. 10 months of tedious waiting, the whole 2011 was ruined for me and now it seems 2012 as well.

ps. I should have gone to Australia.

How about getting your admission deferred to Summer 2012.

I have a question for you stanka, can we apply for CAQ for a new study program once we already have CSQ?

I think when we apply for CSQ, we show our intentions to work rather than study. If we enrol into a new study program, can it baldy effect our PR application?

Unfortunately there aren't any courses for me to take during the Summer. :( Well there are some, but they require prerequisites which I was planning to take in Winter. I can defer my admission to September, but that would mean I have wasted the whole semester+summer courses.

I don't think so. When you get CAQ this means you are a foreign student and it also means you have to pay international fees for your studies. You pay your own money for your education, accommodation etc. You are on your own. You are not taking money from the government. I don't see any reason why this should upset them.

It shouldn't affect PR application anyhow. Maximum they can do is to reject your CAQ application. After all when I was filling out CSQ application nobody told me I cannot study, especially if I work at the same time. The only condition was to reside in Quebec, well here I am residing in Quebec, paying taxes. What else do they want from me?

It will if they find out. So, don't ask for CAQ and SP and instead try to defer ur inscription till next fall and get urself a job, even a casual would do so you keep busy meanwhile.

Hello guys,

My wife is going to apply for university for fall 2012. The term will start from 1st September 2012. I don't know if I'll get PR before August. What do you think ? Otherwise I have to apply study permit for her and have to pay full fees :( I pray to get my PR before August 2012.

She has open work permit as I am on work permit. Work permit is valid until dec 2013.

U don't have to pay full fees.. if you are on Workpermit and has CSQ.. you can talk to university to pay local fees :)
