Great knowing some of the Feb apps are reaching completion. I'm a Feb app but was transferred for Los Angeles over a week ago, I assume I still have a lot of waiting to do as it seems LA will just sit on apps for months before they'll inevitably call an interview.

Having background check in progress means that the relationship is deemed as genuine by immigration?

I don't think so. It's just to ensure that you, your sponsor, family have no undocumented criminal activities.

It's basically CSIS pre-screening people for national security purposes. Whether the marriage is one entered into for convenience is of no concern to them. That is the role of the VO later on in the process.

Yeah I know BGC has nothing do with the relationship, the question is if they start BGC on an applicant does it man that they have already checked the box in reference to relationship genuinity?

Mine went into “progress” in about March before they even transferred application to the VO. So I think that status “in progress” doesn’t really mean that they checked the eligibility already.

I know mine says in progress on ecas and bgc in progress on gckey, I was curious to know if they do bgc AFTER they are satisfied with eligibility or the two things are not related at all

I read many times on forums that they supposedly start BGC after they are satisfied with eligibility. It’s because there are other agencies involved into BGC such as Interpol etc so they only start “bothering” with them after they make sure that the PA passed eligibility. I don’t know if that’s the case though because everything is a mystery when it comes to IRCC and the way they do things.

it would make sense yet as you said who knows right? :)

Everything they requested with the PPR was delivered to Ottawa first thing this morning.

Does anyone know how long we can expect to wait to get his documents back?

What did they ask for? How did you deliver it?

My husband is American.

They asked for 2 passport sized photos, photocopies of his passport include any pages with amendments, the completed annex A that they sent us and a pre paid express post envelope.

So it needs to be done from inside Canada?
I m visa exempt so it should be the same right?

Her package was received by Mississauga on the 6th I believe her AOR1 was around the 20th of March or something like that (similar timeline to mine)
That's awesome...Congrats! Was this inland or outland application and which visa office was involved?
