This helps the initial processing stage but does not help with any backlog at any VO.

While I don't want to be overly optimistic or get anyone's hopes up too much - I don't think we know for sure that this will not help in terms of backlog. IRCC has clearly been making changes to processing, including sending files from some visa offices to other, less busy ones.

Do I know for sure that they might use some of this new capacity at Sydney to deal with backlog? No, I don't. But if Sydney starts taking on some additional roles or more work on files, that would be fewer files / less work at some VOs.

And of course there is some backlog of files that have not yet received AOR, this should help for that.

Our immigration lawyer sent it from Michigan on December 22nd It didn't arrive at their office until February 12th.

wow so those who sent app in February are getting aors, and Septeber-November ones are silent.... i don't get it

Quick question. I was planning to send my application out this week, but I saw yesterday that IMM5532 has been updated. The previous version that my wife and I filled out was dated October 2020 and this new version is Feb 2021.

My wife has already signed and mailed me the forms, I am wondering if I can submit those or do I need to send in the newer version?

Does IRCC offer a grace period for people to use the existing version for people in such cases?

They don't specify a grace period but if you're submitting soon, you should be fine - it seems at minmum they give several months. Or possibly accept the previous version until the next version (after this one) comes out.

No guarantees but you shoudl be okay.

Did anyone submit a cover letter for the application? If so, where do you place the letter -- on top of the document checklist or between supporting documents?
