I received my email for oath taking on Thursday I have been scheduled to take oath on the 14th of July 2021 . How many days does it take to receive the citizenship certificate via mail after the oath ?

I've updated the spreadsheet.

The official time to receive your certificate is up to 4 weeks after the ceremony date.

Would you know what’s the actual time to receive the certificate? Asking since I might have to visit India and need my new passport and OCI

Haha I have similar plans too, probably towards the end of this year.

Well, if you need the certificate urgently, politely request the clerk at the ceremony (I think they even ask you if you need the certificate urgently). Provide them with a reason (urgent travel) and let them know you can't use your Indian passport for travel because you have ceased to be an Indian citizen. Also tell them that you'll need to apply for further documentation before you can travel to India. Expedited certificates might reach you within 2 - 3 days from oath. You'll then have to apply for a Passport and then Surrender + OCI.

You have 3 months time before you accumulate penalty. So you can get it things done.

Yes. But I wouldn't recommend traveling to India with an Indian passport and then try to travel back with a Canadian passport as the Immigration officer might question why you used your Indian passport after getting Canadian citizenship.

I know it is legal to use your Indian passport for 3 months but why give the officer a chance to bring that up and potentially cause delays / issues when you are traveling back to Canada. These guys might get unpredictable - We don't want to miss our flights because the immigration officer thinks we entered illegally. Arguing with them will get us nowhere (especially, when you quote the rule and tell them that you have behaved in accordance with the rules, they will get even more mad).

It is best to get OCI and then travel (because we don't know when the Covid rules will change) and if there is something like a 16th wave going on in India, they will extend the ban for foreigners (including those of Indian origin without OCI) and we can't enter the country. To avoid all this mess, get OCI and go to India.

GCMS: Earlier i didnt notice last month but seems that the physical presence in file is 1118 vs 1119(the calculator i submitted).
The absent days are 207 in gcms instead of 206.
As two numbers are updated, possibly they verified the number of days?

Possible. They might have pulled the report from CBSA and checked.

Feb applicant here as well. Application recieved on Feb 28. No test invite. Happy for the people who are getting movement on their applications.
whats your gcms say? Any notes?
Is your file assigned to someone or its in registry?

I thought that they always ask the candidates on entry stamp & I94 and verify the days without asking right source(cbsa) ;) .
With original application, i sent all the passport copies and after AOR i sent I94 copies. So something triggered and someone worked on it.

I-94 is only requested if you have a LOT of trips to the US, I think. If you have only like a couple of trips, they don't usually ask for it.

You might have multiple trips because you are working in the US, right?

What does GCMS stand for? It’s new to me and how can I get it?
