There is no fixed Test date. One of my friend got those online test invitation. He was given about 20 days to take the test. You have to take your online test by the deadline mentioned in your invitation.

Do we have to be in Canada to take the test?
I couldn't find any info about it on Canada.ca
You have to be physically present in Canada to take the online test.

I am Nov-19 applicant and still waiting for test. And few of my friends applied in Sept-19 and Oct-19, and they are also waiting for test. We will be happy if we get test before summer as Jun/Jul/Aug-19 applicants are getting test invites now, albeit sparingly.
My spouse application is in Feb-20 and we are hoping that the he will get invite by Fall/Winter-21.
Any thing before that would be a dramatic change in IRCC speed, and it would be a delight surprise

July 2019 applicants are getting their test invites now? That can't be right. My fiance applied back in July 2019 and managed to get her oath in August 2020.
People in December 2019 have started to get test invites. Yours surely will be soon.

There are even people from may-19 who are waiting for test. I would guess 50-60% of july-19 applicants might already have received test invites. And Aug-19, it might be around 30-40%, and Sept-19 -- 20-30%. So I assume majority of Aug, Sept, Oct are waiting for test. Not sure, how the new lockdown in ON will affect the timelines further.
Across this forum , and FB group only around 7 people of Dec-19, received test invite so far. Of course, it could be more, but only those people shared the details.
Yeah, fair point. It's pretty sporadic when people get notified of things moving again and it's quite hard to gauge how long the process will be when things usually take a while as it is. Just gotta be patient I guess
