I and my wife are currently in Canada as a Student and we have applied under FSW program and our study permits are getting expired on June 30 this year and can we apply for bridging work permit or not? Or we need to be on a work permit in order to apply for bridging work permit?

As per CIC you are only eligible for bridging open work permit if you have a valid status on your work permit and your current work permit expires in 4 months or less.

I think it created more issues for CIC as may be applicants harrassed them when their 6 months was up.

I'm waiting on my medical exam to be cleared... ("You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.") But what's odd is my background check says this:
"We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."

I thought they didn't start processing anything until background check is cleared?


EDIT: NEVERMIND. I guess there's a false P2. Dang, got my hopes up.

Hi, I am in the same situation. Medicals are not passed yet but background check says "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."

Application submission & AOR - 4 February 2019
Country of residence - USA

Question about the details page, is it normal that it says I do not need a medical exam at this stage? Or is it just a glitch (one of many) in the system?

Review of eligibility We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Review of medical results You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.
Review of additional documents We do not need additional documents.
Interview You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

My status is exactly the same as yours. AOR - 25th Feb. What's your status currently?

I had to do it recently for a mistake I did as well (forgot the affidavit of secondary's application translations) and they replied acknowledging the receive of the documents.

Within 5 business days but I usually get a reply within 3 business days.

Two business days: I received the automated message after raising the CSE on the 24th of February and received a reply on the 26th.
