Thank you everyone, over the moon with copr but also feeling for/with everyone who is still waiting. Keep the faith!

And to answer your question in this thread as well: i think the lettter should be enough for the dutch affairs to start processing your request. I wouldnt wait for some kind of letter as their request is clear enough and a reply might take a while. I emailed cic once and their reply was pretty quick though: 4 days.

When i requested my dutch police record the only box i had to tick was immigration and the dutch justice department knows what to check for/on. In your case i would add a copy of cic's request. The VOG will be mailed to you, not CIC, then youd have to forward. The form is in dutch and comes with an english translation at the bottom. Good luck!
Thanks, marli. I think I'll just submit the VOG application with the email from CIC, like you suggest. Funnily enough, I had a similar problem several years ago when I applied for a Temporary Work Permit in Canada, although I was living in the Netherlands at the time so I could apply for the VOG in person. 7 years later and the process hasn't improved much!

I'll just give a big F*ck you to Canada and go live in Indonesia if they refuse my wife.
I really admire you for this. Not many Canadian sponsors are willing to do this, especially if their spouse is from a developing country. I hope your wife feels just as strongly that if she was ever refused, that she would love for you to go live with her in Indonesia.

I'd do this for my spouse without a doubt. We went through the same process in her country for me to get residence and now we are doing it here (where we hope to establish ourselves). However, if that proves to be impossible then we will simply return to Poland together. All of our family is there anyways, we simply wanted better opportunities for ourselves and our children.

Thanks Mikeymyke,

My wife wouldn't mind at all, in fact she would actually prefer me move there opposed to her coming here. But she also understands that I am already established here in Canada and that our future children will have better opportunity here. As for me, I would have no problem living in Indonesia if need be, I absolutely love it there.

Hi everyone,

Began packing yesterday, filled out b4 of what categories I have so far and created an Excel sheet with a more detailed list. Would recommend starting on this beforehand if possible for anyone with DM or expecting it soon.

Is it necessary that I include a Customs Declaration Form? We're driving across the border and in the past I've never had to fill one out while visiting, even if I had food etc. (as long as I told them verbally). But I know this is common if someone is traveling by plane.

Hope everyone receives good news soon :)

We are also putting together a TRV application. Before we submitted the PR we also applied for a study permit which was refused. The red tape around getting your foreign wife to Canada is beyond ridiculous and the spousal immigration system in Canada is extremely flawed.

Where did you get your form b4? The link on CIC is 404ing and I can't find the form on cbsa either. Figured I may as well get it done ahead of time for my spouse as well.

Yeah, their link doesn't work...you'd think they'd update it seeming it's a pretty important document.

See if this works: http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf186-eng.pdf

You'd think eh? :p

Worked perfectly. Thanks!

A side note for other documents needed to land in Canada. It mentions on the "Before you arrive" page:

When you travel to Canada, bring official documents that state what vaccinations you and your family have already had. If you or your child has not been vaccinated, call your doctor or local public health clinic right away.
Is this 100% necessary? I haven't seen anyone discuss this on these forums. Only the form b4. It might be a bit tricky to get those for my spouse.

I think it's only necessary for dependents since to enroll in school they'll need their vaccination record....could be wrong though.

Plus, all of us submitted a medical examination already.
