very sorry to hear that your story. I remember reading that you maintain your status before your work permit expired. did you try to apply for BOWP? I have read stories that people get BOWP even they did not had file number or somehow they messed up. If you have valid reason may be you can try for BOWP, and make a cover letter.

I have actually applied for GCMS notes twice and nothing seems to have changed. The last GCMS notes I received on Dec. 24/2014 shows only medicals passed, the rest are "not started". At one point I was forced to contact my MP to find out if anything is wrong with my file but she got back to me saying all is well and CIC made her understand that if they need anything they will contact me directly. On Nov. 5/2014 I sent an email to CIC requesting the status of my application but I got a response on Jan. 7/2015 stating that my file is currently in the queue for an officer to review it. I only hope that if it gets reviewed PPR will follow next and not IP again.

I emailed my local MP. His secretary replied back and sent me a contest form to fill out and sign. I have to provide her my client ID number, my address and phone number. I want to make sure my PR application info is not shared with someone who is not reliable. Did you have to go through the same procedure when you contacted them?

Well heres my story...

I got told by someone who helps immigrants with their applications that if I applied for PR i wouldn't need to extend my work permit. so i didn't, it expired in Oct 31 and i kept working until yesterday. I get a phone call from this same person saying she messed up and gave me wrong info and in fact i CANNOT keep working and shouldve applied for a work permit extension before my previous permit expired.

awesome! SO now I have applied for a visitors visa/restoration of status so i can stay in the country, however i can no longer work. Hoping it doesnt get denied otherwise i have to leave canada until my PR comes through!

My application received: march 17
RPRF paid: May 16
processing started: oct 2nd.
medical results received.

I am PRAYING! that is comes through fast coz i dont know how im supposed to survive with no income!

moral of the story! always call CIC for questions. Never trust anyone else with your application..

I think you can still apply for the bridge work permit and ask for restoration on the same application. In fact, I'm pretty sure the form to fill out has a field where you can indicate is you need a restoration of status or not ( you have to explain why). However, the restoration can only be applied for within 90 days since your WP expired. I can not believe how can "this person" who was helping you be so ignorant and not understand that the "implied" status applies to applications for work permit in process and not for the PR application itself...

Hey Buddy,

Whenever you contact your MPs, it is their secretary that responds on their behalf. Rarely do you get direct access to the MP. Yes, I went through the same procedure and it is the MPs secretary that contacted CIC on my behalf. Don't worry, they are very reliable

A positive eligibility decision was made on August 1, 2014 and background checks are now outstanding. Medical results are valid until April 22, 2015.

I think you can still apply for the bridge work permit and ask for restoration on the same application. In fact, I'm pretty sure the form to fill out has a field where you can indicate is you need a restoration of status or not ( you have to explain why). However, the restoration can only be applied for within 90 days since your WP expired. I can not believe how can "this person" who was helping you be so ignorant and not understand that the "implied" status applies to applications for work permit in process and not for the PR application itself...

She can't apply anymore for BOWP as her permit expired.
We will see if she'll get her status restored but in my opinion I doubt it.
Worst thing is CIC will order her to leave the country.
