How do you know it is in the mail? Did you submit prepaid envelope?

the ottawa visa office doesn't need prepaid envelopes for visa exempt applicants. the copr is mailed by regular mail. i believe what marla means is she received the coprs yesterday.

Was supposed to land today :(

We've had to push my landing date back until sometime later this month. I'm currently stuck in Virginia so I can be with my family because of the situation with my Grandfather.

This means I'll probably be landing alone, without my Canadian husband in an airport :( I'm bummed

Ahhh..... Miss..... there is always issues in life that prevent us to enjoy life as we wish....
but every problem has a solution in the right time...
Just make sure that you pay attention to the expiration date of your visa,
You don't need to add this to your problems...

Hi there all! We just received our Confirmation of Permanent Residence (yay!!).

My spouse and I are in Canada now and have been since August. I just had a question regarding leaving and re-entering.

In the document we received it states, "Your visa is now affixed in your passport." It is actually not, because she obviously kept it in order to enter Canada in August. I'm just a little confused by this. So, my question is, in order to begin her permanent residency, do we simply have to leave Canada and come back and present the confirmation papers to the border agent? Is it that simple or is there more to it?

Thank you!

yes, it's that simple. she has to enter canada and go into the immigration office for the landing interview. it will probably take about 15 minutes. the COPR will be stapled to her passport once it's done.

Awesome! I was just thrown off by the sentence I quoted above. Just want to make sure we have all the information and documents we need before we leave and come back.

Thank you for your help!

it's probably a standard document sent to all applicants. those requiring visas get a visa inserted in their passport.

Passport Back today!!! Great news, it came with some difficulty however. The immigration visa is only valid until Feb 10, 2015. As we are in Canada and Pregnant, it is going to be tricky, but we will find a way. Will have to see if we can schedule an appointment in downtown calgary to "land"

are you near a us border? you can drive there and turn around to land. it will probably be quicker than making an appointment at an office. if she requires a visa to enter the us, she can "flagpole" which means she doesn't exactly enter the us. she just gets turned around back to canada.

Its something we have considered, but it would mean having to answer yes to being formally refused entry to the united states for the rest of her life. In my experience, US border security are difficult to deal with in the best of circumstance, this would make it only more so, from what i've heard from a few others too. We'll see it may be the only realistic choice.

I was under the impression, based on what I've read, that while you are technically refused entry into the US, nothing was entered into their system, and was more like a US border agent just making it easier for you. I don't see why you would have to ever say you were refused entry if it's not ever dealt with in a formal way that left mark on your "record", so to speak. I mention this because I was thinking about flagpoling to meet my husband at Peace Bridge when he lands so I can be there with him and I've never heard anyone say anything to this effect before.

The other option, of course, is to just spend a couple hours in the states before coming back across to Canada.
