Hi All,

I just received my passport request letter and the payment request for the Permanent Residence Fee.
I am just wondering how others are doing?

Good luck to all!

hi nullall,
Congrats on getting PPR. You can send the passport and the fees to Detroit or you can go in person and get PR visa either Tuesday or Thursday in detroit and do your landing while coming back to canada on border.

Could you please share what is your timeline? Did you ecas updated to Medical received before you got PPR request..

Hi Vishut,

I got the "medicals received" status online AND the "passport request" email both today. (They only request a "copy" of my passport as I am from one of the visitors visa exempt countries.)

-applied: febr.2012
-application received: aug.2012
-medicals request: sept.2012
-medicals received: oct.2012
-passport request: oct.2012

my only concern is that, I already live in canada and am not sure how they will issue me the PR as I am not planning to leave canada and reenter canada for the next few month and they dont even want my passport sent in to them for any visa, so I am not entirely clear on how exactly they will issue me the permanent resident status (as im not coming through a border office) etc...

You can "land" at a local CIC office - you just need to call and make an appointment. In some cities, it may take several weeks to get an appointment. If you do want to land at a border, the leaving is more of a technicality as you can flagpole at a road border with the US.

Guys!

Just wondering is there any Feb. applicant that haven't receive there medical request yet??
I got my AOR last May and haven't heard anything after that. I send email "re: status and got this reply to Ottowa"

In response to your email, your case is currently in queue for review by an officer.

No action is needed from your part, at this present time.

Our office will get in contact with you regarding the next steps in due time.

Thanks.

Great News, just got COPR in the mail!
:D

Good luck to ALL!!!!

nullall... so finally where did you do your 'LANDING' ?
Through the border or Local CIC Office ? Can you please share your experience.

have you lived in many countries?

I have not done the landing yet, I am planning to do it over the weekend, via flag-poling at a border.
Will let you know about the experience.

Oh great! Always wanted to know what this 'FLAG POLING' is all about. Though I know that it is trying to enter US without a visa and getting refused to come back to Canada and thereby change your landing status.

Is it legally permitted ? What if I (as a principal application) have a US Visa and my dependants (wife and kid) do not have a US Visa ? On receiving COPR, can I still accompany them and they do flag poling while I enter as a normal visitor ?

I am officially today as of yesterday evening a PERMANENT RESIDENT of CANADA!!! YEAH:)

Did my landing at Carway, Alberta via flagpoling. The experience is very smooth overall, however, I must say make sure you don't have any unpaid speeding tickets!!!
I got arrested at the border in the CIC office once they pulled up my police files and discovered there was a warrant for my arrest for an unpaid speeding ticket! WOW! I totally forgot about this damn ticket and even though it turned out to be a minor offence RCMP had to be called to scene to resolve the issue and I had to sign an agreement that I will pay the fine at the Edmonton Courts once I return.

So, in the end it's a very happy ending to a very unexpected landing experience that will remain to be a story told forever, YET, I dont recommend you repeat it, so PAY YOUR SPEEING TICKETS EVERYONE unless you want to have a unique landing experience 8)

Good luck to all!!!

Nullal.. i have a question for you. When u send ur passport copy and the payment for RPRF to detroit, did u enclose a prepaid return envelope? How did they send it back to you? Is it through regular mail?

I enclosed an Xpresspost envelope with my return address and that's exactly how they sent it back to me which took a very surprising 1 day to get back to me!

good luck!
