OK so my wife is in the Philippines.

What is she expected to get when she sends her PPR? What's this about visa-exempt and not? What do each receive?

Thanks,

-TS...

After she sent her PPR, probably a week or 2 weeks later the Canadian Embassy in Manila would ask her some additional documents for example the Appendix A and B which you wrote down the history from specific year you got 18 years old to present, AOM Advisory on Marriages you can get this at the National Statistics Office ( anywhere branch in the Philippines will do). Lastly they will ask a photo. On my case I just sent 6 pieces. They will have a due time that you should send them back the additional documents they needed from your wife.

After week or so the CEM will send your application along with your wife's visa and COPR. They will also send back the documents that you submitted like your photos, some of the forms that they will not need. I think they just get some of the important stuff. Usually the CEM will use the courier DHL to send the application back with the Passport and the VIsa with the COPR.

Goodluck! I hope you'll get the Visa soon! ;)

Congrats !
I was wondering how did you apply for OSAP? Didn't you just receive the POVL? So you applied while they were processing? I thought that wouldn't be possible for someone to apply for it during immigration process. Please correct me if I am wrong, I don't know you situation and those are my assumptions. I also want to apply for OSAP, so any information on how you did it would be very helpful :)

Thank you in advance.

IrinaAbdNova I applied for OSAP as well, I don't believe it is a problem. Just because you are a sponsor it doesn't mean you cannot attend school at the same time... Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Hi KJG :D,
I know it's been a while, I've been out of town. I hope you are doing well and are half way through the process by now? It feels like time has frozen and we're not moving. Anyway, its good to be back and I hope to see lots of new approvals.

Thank you for your reply =)

I am not a sponsor, I am the sponsored one =))) I thought bally21 was also sponsored that's why I was wondering how it was possible to do during the process.

Maybe you will know or anyone else who has knowledge on this topic, when I get my PR and go back to Canada and than apply for OSAP, how does the process work? How long does it take to assess someone to determine if they are eligible or not? Is it even possible to get for newcomers?

Thank you in advance for your help :)

I'm the Canadian, sponsoring my husband. I actually didn't think I'd get OSAP because you need to be in ontario for 12 months prior to the school year starting and last time I lived in Ontario was for 3 months in summer 2007. But because of a nice little loophole, I got osap. Basically I was born in Ontario, but lived in N.Ireland my whole life until I came to Canada for university. I went to university in NB and NS but because my parents paid for it and I didn't have a loan, I am eligible for osap because if I wan't at uni, I would still be an ontario resident because of my birth (and also my parents lived there so they consider it my home province) Confusing - yes! But it worked so I am pleased! It took them 4 months to process my osap because I had such a weird situation. I also only got a VERY small amount, it will only cover my tuition, so I will need a line of credit too, and this is because I'm married. But the saving grace was when I applied, my hubby didn't have status, he was just an immigrant, so I said I was the sole supporter and he doesn't have an income so I got the low income grant. All in all I got $7500 to last me a year, and my tuition is $6500! But I am not complaining, it'll definitely help!

Also on the same day as the visa coming, and my osap, we got our tax refund from the UK and I asked to change my UK provisional license to a g1, and they somehow gave me a g2! So I am legally able to drive here in Canada and I've never passed a driving test in either country lol..good news all around!
