Has anyone heard about conditional PR?
Two-Year “Legitimate Relationship” Regulation (October 26th, 2012)
This rule applies to spouses/partners who have been in a relationship for two years or less and who have no children in common with their sponsor at the time of application submission.
Once in Canada, the sponsored individual will receive conditional Permanent Residency. They must live with their spouse/partner in a ‘legitimate relationship' for two years, or face the possibility of having their Permanent Residency revoked.
Exceptions will be made for sponsored spouses or partners who are suffering from abuse or neglect.

I think it could be a good thing... Hopefully it is a step in the right direction for them to stop treating all of us like criminals or faster processing times but this is still CIC so I'm not holding my breath :p I do wonder if this will help those of us that have been married for over 5 years and have kids but it is almost funny at the same time because I thought the whole idea was that we were all processed as equals (you know all guilty regardless if we are married,common-law or same-sex) but this would almost make it seem like they will be treating them differently seeing as some will get PR and some will get CPR... ::)

Totally agree, the reason is not for fast processing, if you read more about it.
That is another proof that they are not interested in solving the real issues for innocent citizens but rather protecting the country as if those sponsoring their families committed a crime.

well then here's a idea for CIC.... how about the counties with the highest cases of fraud stop having the fastest processing time....
I have really come to realize that the only thing that CIC is reliable in is being completely unreliable and idiotic!!!

It does not work that way, faster processing is for large powerful communities that would affect elections like: India China
They are not looking for real solutions, it is all about money and votes
It is NOT like there is no solution. There are solutions (these among them) and I am not even a specialist:

  • It is not all about budget cuts. Now they closed some VO's abroad what is the replacement Ottawa ha ::) ! if so did they hire more to meet these demands
  • Enforce tough measures on frauds...but don't penalize us innocents...treating us like guilty till proven otherwise just because of those abused the system...instead save your precious time !!!
  • Provide dual intent Visa similar to visitor visa if you can not process applications within time!
  • why do we have to suffer from your incompetence?
  • Parallel processing, CIC should not keep files for its turn or waiting
  • People working in a department should have deep background (therefore the minister should be a PhD holder in immigration and/or an immigrant)... not only by favoritism and who can cut the budget while maintaining their votes from large and powerful communities (China, India, ... and UK -look at their processing times) ...which is a form of racism

Hi ThunderSoul, I was only logged in earlier to respond to your private messages as I got email notifications for them, but didn't read this thread so unfortunately I missed these questions you posted here, maybe things are a little clearer now but for the benefit of anyone else reading I'll answer the questions you posted in the thread too :)

ThunderSoul said:
Isn't this going to SLOW DOWN the current process of her application if we send additional forms?
No, it shouldn't slow down the processing as the Access to Information request is sent to a totally separate department in Canada and all they do is log into the electronic file system and retrieve the contents of the database to send to you. There is no interfering with your physical file and nobody at the visa office is involved.

ThunderSoul said:
What's a CSE? Can you stop using acronyms??

So if I apply with GCMS, wouldn't that conflict with the current MP?
Would the current MP be notified?
Would that slow down our application?

Thanks!
Sorry about the acronym, CSE= case-specific enquiry.

Applying for the GCMS notes should not have any bearing on what the MP is doing or has done for you. I can't think of any reason why they would notify the MP of the request, especially since it is a different department. And as mentioned, it won't interfere with the application.

ThunderSoul said:
How do I fill up 5563??
It's confusing, is there any guidelines to it?
I'm guessing you've already had a crack at it by now but just for the benefit of everybody who reads these posts I'll give a quick outline of what to do:

IMM5563 is completed by you, the sponsor, as you are the one making the Access to Information request.

Section A
Question 1 - select Access to Information Act
Question 2 - select your preferred language
Question 3 - select email, as this will be quickest (30 days)
Question 4 - select no, as you are requesting information on the applicant's behalf

Section B
Enter the applicant's name and date of birth here.
Select 'Electronic files', then in the boxes to the right of that you will:
- select the box 'Status of an Application'
- enter the applicant's file number (e.g. F123456789)
- enter the location of the application, i.e. the name of the visa office
Leave 'Physical files' and all the boxes to the right of that blank - do NOT request anything to do with the physical file because this will require someone to pull the application out of processing and scan the whole thing, which might delay processing.

Section C
Complete this section with all of your information (not the applicant's) since you are the requester. This section is pretty self-explanatory.

ThunderSoul said:
And what e-mail do you use to talk to them?
She used case specific enquiry and general enquiry and they never get back to her even though it's her own application.

What e-mail did ~you~ use to send to them in order to get a reply from them???
This was one I answered by PM but I've just been using case-specific enquiries to contact my visa office, to varying degrees of success. Sometimes I get nothing but the automated reply, sometimes I get a reply that addresses my actual question, and sometimes they give a generic reply that doesn't actually tell me anything but at least lets me know that a human being read my message.

Many thanks my friend...I am in India and my common-law partner in Canada now. So will that be any problem to get the signature of the commissioner of oath. Please let me know your opinion or share your experience..

I posted this already in the London VO thread but also putting it in here!

Good news about my application - Two days ago I sent off a case-specific enquiry to confirm that CIC had received my second batch of medical furtherance information, and to check if it had been reviewed yet. I had the following response:

The information was received and your medical assessment has been completed. We will soon proceed towards finalising your application and issuing your Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's such a relief to know that the medical is completed, and since I know from my GCMS notes that everything else is assessed and completed, I'm good to go as soon as they pick up my file again! So happy!
