Well I'm about to pass out, sort of.

I just checked e-cas. Here's what it says:

-

We received your application for permanent residence on February 8, 2012.

We started processing your application on September 25, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

-

Her medical results have expired Oct. 20, 2012 (2 days ago).
So they started processing her app. about 1 month ago.

What's the deal now? Anyone know?

Will she be asked to re-do the medical? How will she be contacted?

Thank you,

-TS...
You can be proactive yourself and re-do and send in the medical again to your VO. I have heard that if your application is close to be completed, the officer will ask for an extension on your medical but seeing as yours just started, I would say you wouldn't get an extension.

By the way, on the following form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5669E.PDF

On question 6 of the first page, we answered YES to d) and e).

Our reason was that she was invited to my brother's wedding so she applied for a tourist VISA.
She was denied.

Do you think answering YES to d) and e) was the right thing to do? Or was it supposed to be just d)? Or just e)?

Thanks!
I would think if someone put yes in d for temp visa then they would have to put yes to e also if they got refused......

You did the right thing by answering yes to both. They will do an additional check (probably done before you went in process) to investigate the refusal. And it won't be any cause for concern. You explained in the box right?
We just said that she was invited to my bro's wedding and she applied for a tourist visa and her application was denied.

I have a feeling we shouldn't have answered YES to both because e) seems to imply she landed in Canada but was not allowed entry and was forced to return to the Philippines. They may see this as an attempt to illegally enter the country which will flag her as a criminal. You know how messed up immigration people are! :(

I'm worried!

I thought mine was about to end seeing they finally started processing.

Anyone know how long it takes for the process till they make a decision?

Being proactive as you say and doing your medical before being asked is a huge no no. It totally complicates your file and is strongly advised against. There have been people who have been "proactive" and their application has been left in a mess due to having 2 sets of medicals on their file, unable to match with their records. When you are requested for your 2nd medical you are given a file number which you bring to the DMP and then once completed it saves a lot more time than you just being "proactive". Also a lot of DMP's are advised not to do a 2nd medical without the written confirmation, some DMP's won't touch a 2nd medical.

Also once your application is being processed, as long as the file is complete within 3 months of expiration they can issue a further extension under their discretion.

So LA Visa Office has requested my PP for Visa issue and they have recieved it today. Does anyone know how long this takes and once I recieve my PP with Visa what is the next step? Do I wait for my PR card to come in the mail?
I have already landed here in Canada so would I really need to flag pole ?

The visa is often in process before ecas says it is. In fact, in process usually means you are at the very end. So I am pretty sure they will get an extension.

They will understand why you put yes based on your explanation and will see no record of her being refused at the border. Don't worry. Refused entry is the same as refused a visa in my opinion and I am sure lots of people answer the same way you did.

You have to check with people in the same VO as you because it totally depends.

Correct, this advice is a lot more likely than previous advice given. Nobody can know for sure but just because your med has expired, as long as they finalise everything within 3 months of expiration and the only thing stopping them giving you a COPR is the expired med, then can if they so wish extend it by any period under their discretion up to 12 months. (I believe most extensions are around 3 months :D)

Oh? You really think they check their records? To me it's something like this:

Scenario 1
Officer: Are you a criminal?
Applicant: No.
Officer: <performs background check>

Scenario 2
Officer: Are you a criminal?
Applicant: Yes.
Officer: You are not allowed in Canada. Goodbye.

I don't feel they make background checks to check you're not a criminal if you incriminate yourself. It's easier to say "goodbye" then go through the process of letting someone through.

How so? It says they started Sept. 25, how can they have started earlier?
