Well, it's rare that a sponsor is not approved. With you being abroad, I know you had to establish that your ties to Canada were intact and you had taken steps to relocate, and I'm assuming you did all that...can't see you not doing it well, considering your well-thought-out posts.
Read a few cases in CanLII of sponsors not being approved because they weren't in the country, but in a lot of cases they were PRs who hadn't stayed in country for the processing of the application, and in the one case of a citizen, she was so vague about her plans to relocate, they decided they couldn't rely on it.
And positive is the only way to go with Immigration...the alternative sucks.
Just to confirm that your positive energy was in fact correct... I decided NOT to tell my wife about the update on ECAS before we left for our little trip to Malaysia, just in case it was bad news. We arrived home about 11 PM on the 20th to find the letter from CIC waiting for us.
Which is actually pretty good considering they claim to have sent it on March 8th and there is no mail delivery here on weekends, so it means the last date it could have arrived is the 18th so ten days from Mississauga to Bangkok regular mail is not bad at all.
My wife was thrilled to see the "We are pleased to advise that you have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor" line, I believes she stopped reading at that point hahaha...
So now I guess the heavy lifting comes... the long haul so to speak.
For those that have been through the process, I note that I can still access ECAS with no issue but so far nothing when using my wife's info.. on the letter that came is the Client ID MINE or HERS? Ok skip that question it's mine as I just logged into ECAS using my info and that number.
I guess that means I am now waiting for something from Singapore giving us her application received info which would include her ID?
Hmmmm we have a trip planned in June to Italy and one in August to Japan, we are keeping our fingers crossed to have some positive news during one of those two trips hahaha.. wishful thinking I know but hey as one wiser than I said, being positive when dealing with Immigration is the only way to go...
Talk soon
P.S. - for those that asked, a few pics from the trip, figured it was better to link to the album and not clog up the forum.
