LIVESCAN is the best way to go. As the electronic device makes sure you have the correct prints. with Ink its difficult to know if the prints are readable or not and there is always a chance that FBI can reject it.

I definitely want to do LIVESCAN. However, I'm concerned that the FBI Report (Identity History Summary Check) is sent as a PDF rather than by mail/hard copy. The CIC website says they don't accept photocopies.

Does anyone have experience with this or know a post on the forum with the answer?

That is weird. I did a livescan and the officer gave me printed fingerprints on FD-258. i suggest you call the local PD and go there to do the fingerprint scan and request a copy. Like I said I have done it and FBi has accepted my prints.

I'll edit my post. I meant to say, they only provide a PDF copy of the Police Certificate (Identity History Summary Check)

I'm not sure why you received printed fingerprints - aren't they electronically sent to FBI?

No LIVESCAN is just an electronic fingerprinting process. So instead of dipping your fingers in ink you scan them electronically using this type of machine - http://www.californialivescanservices.com/assets/live-scan-header.jpg

Sending it to FBI electornically (using FBI Channelers) is only valid for GC holders and US citizens. Since I am not a US citizen or a GC holder, I got a copy of it on FD-258 and sent it to FBI

Thanks, I'm a citizen so I'll be going to an FBI channeler for the LIVESCAN, so the fingerprints can be electronically sent. I simply am having trouble finding out if I am able to receive a hard copy of the Identity History Summary Check rather than a PDF.

Its ok ultimately you have to scan the hardcopy and create a PDF to upload anyways. Its better for you because, you will receive it faster and in email instead of snail mail.

Guys I will be moving to new address by next month end and applying for FBI PCC today.

I dont want to use CC as address will change has anyone used certified check or money order before

Thanks

Update - Till now they have only processed applications which reached FBI by 1st May. Mine reached on June 7th. They told me to wait for another month.

Thanks.

Yes atleast 6-8 weeks for delivery. But I am ok with it as i haven't got an ITA till now. My decision for ONIP is in final stages. Knowing this would take time i had applied way ahead of time.

I sent my forms from a post office in LA on May 28. Paid for quicker shipping, so I assume it arrived on Friday June 2 to the FBI address in WV.
It looks like based on what y'all are saying, then I should have it back by August 15th or so. Would you guys agree?

You can use a CC and keep the old address on file. Make sure you don't change address on credit card and have electronic statements ON so nothing goes to your old address. I did the same and CC was charged successfully. Then I changed my address on CC. Not the best way but its possible. The problem with money order or certified check is there is not way to know if FBI is processing or not. With a CC you know instantly when your CC is charged.

Not got my report yet but mine arrived with FBI on May 2nd so hope to get it in next couple of weeks! I have a question..

The USA is my current country of residence.. I am going to Canada next week for a few days. If my report is dated before I leave the USA do I have to get another report? Will only be in Canada a few days then coming back to the USA.. I know for all counties you have PREVIOUSLY lived in the report must of been issued after that last time you visited that country..
