FBI POLICE CLEARANCE (buffalo office)

I would like to know if anyone had the experience of sending the FBI police clearance with the initial paperwork, like it is requested in the checklist, and then later on the CIC requested an updated one.

I heard that sometimes they do that because when the go through the (IA) the police clearance is already expired.

If anybody has some experience on this I would appreciate your feedback.

Buffalo requires that the FBI Police Clearance be at most 6 months old. It is possible
that they could ask you for the clearance within 6 months, however I would not
take any chances. If you have to take IELTS, it is definitely going to expire
unless you also submit the IELTS along with initial paperwork.

I’ve some doubts regarding my police Clarence for USA :
1.I’ve stayed in USA on H1b from 08 Nov 2008 to 30 Aug 2009 .Then after I went India for vacation for couple of week.
2.Returned Back from India on 12-May-2009 and stayed in US on H1b until 05-Aug-2009.

Hence as per above timelines, I’ve not stayed in USA for SIX month in a row. So would I still need Police certificate from Federal USA ?
Please advise.

Based on your message, you lived in USA from Nov 2008 to Aug 2009 on an H1B visa and although you took a vacation you're still living in USA; so it is more likely than not that they'll request a FBI clearance.

FBI clearance letter takes atleast 45 days to arrive. Applied for both me n wife.
Official time quoted on their portal is 2 months!

Plus, you'll also have to arrange for fingerprints to be taken by local law enforcement or authorized agency.
So I suppose its prudent that you apply for it asap.

I was also asked for updated PCCs from other countries where I stayed because it had been over 2 years since I got response from visa office. Official document I received states that if you submitted a PCC and left the country within 3 months from date of issue, you need NOT apply for a new one.

I was asked for FBI clearance twice. First within a few months of filing the application and then another one at the time of Medical request.
