Thanks Hari for your suggestions. One of the officers I spoke to before suggested getting a ridge builder. As a last resort, I may have to visit US again to get a live scan fingerprints from a private company. Hopefully the officers in SGVO will consider my state pcc. Good luck everyone!

Buddy,
Ridge Builder - I too bought it from crimescene.com (as their shop is in Phoenix where i am residing now) last month to try what it does. But it was not helpful. It was just like some alcohol based some diluted liquid. The fingertip does not pop up as i expected. I am not discouraging but realistically i am not confident on this lotion if it will help. So please dont expect huge on it. Based on the conversation i had with that shop guy and based on experience after using it, it looks like this one wont work on live people. Its typical usage for crime investigations.

Also i could see that some similar product is there at shopevident.com which i dont know if it different from crimesene.com product. This one looks like actual lotion based on the picture shown on website but the one i bought is not.
The one at http://fingerprintpads.com/ looks like the one i bought.

Phoenix locations and its cost (which will give you an idea on cost):
Phoenix Fingerprinting Service - 15$ (1 card), 20$ (2 cards)
Arizona Livescan Fingerprinting - 20$, 30$
Scottsdale Fingerprinting 15$, 20$

Hint at scanning locations - The second card cost is just for printing the same fingerprints again in another card and they dont scan the fingers again. But whenever i went i used to ask them upfront that i wanted them to rescan the fingers. So you can negotiate on that.

Also you might need to consider taking multiple scan prints from different locations.

Good luck.

Today's update:
Opening 4-May
Processing 1-May (because my application was processed this morning as per fbi agent)

My timeline on FBI application:
Application received for me and my spouse: 1-May
Finger prints taken: Self (with ink pad)
To be mailed from FBI: 23 Jul (as per fbi agent)
Hoping to receive: 30 Jul

Fun part: I sent other sets of applications later (with scanned prints as well as ink prints from police station) after being panicked (due to lot of rejections) and now FBI accepted self taken prints :).

FBI report was the only option for me because we stayed in many states and its a problem collecting from all. Its a surprise that both of our prints got accepted.

Based on manual prints acceptance, i am still not sure if FBI has improved their system or prints were actually good. I will come to know on this when my other applications are processed.

Good luck buddies whoever waiting for it.

I received the reports. Good luck to you all.

Finger prints taken: Self (with ink pad)
Application received for me and my spouse: 1-May
Search completed and Report dated: 21 Jul
Mailed from FBI: 23 Jul (as per fbi agent)
Received in US: 27 Jul

Friday 24th: started professing
CC: Also friday
Finished today Monday 27th july.
Mailed out today.
Dont know when opened.

Fbi received it on May 5th.

Hello everyone,

Quick question: I applied for FBI clearance in January '15 and received it in late April/early may of this year. I received an AOR letter from Colombo on the 18th of March and haven't heard anything since. My questions are:

How long is the FBI clearance valid for and should I apply for a new one? I've heard that it's valid for six months as long as it's received by the VO within 3 months of being issued. Mine is probably already over three months old.

Thank you for your help. Given how long the FBI takes to process these requests I would need to ask for a new one as soon as possible.

Its mixed information on validity.
6 months mentioned in http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp
3 months mentioned in http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EP7TOC.asp

I think people raise case specific enquiry and sent a soft copy to cic/visa office. Also i think the courier the original to their visa office. So you can raise cse and then also ask them if you want to send the original before it expires.

Experts whoever sent pcc after AOR,
Please share how you updated your pcc on file on time.

Hi to all!

I have on question because I've been reading that people report two different dates. Whats the difference between Processing date and opening date? On which one can I know if my fingerprints have been accepted? Can I call FBI and asked them about opening date?

I would appreciate any comments

My understanding is Opening means they would open your envelope and verify if your finger prints are fine and they would also check if your application is complete, credit card details/Money order attached. If they find it complete, then they would charge your card.
After charge, it would be passed onto Processing dept where they run your details against their database to see if you have anything on your name (crime charges, DUI etc etc). If they find everything good, then they would print the PCC and mail it to you.

Thank you harirajmohan.

If anyone has been through this process and has more information, please let me know.
