I requested an address change yesterday. They confirmed updating my address and asked me to check up on my request status in a few weeks. A few f#$king weeks!! Not a week or 2, no! a FEW! as if I have such time to spare. My deadline is 30 Jan. and my request was received on Oct. 6
and they won't confirm whether my fingerprints were accepted or not!
Hi mohammed.morsy,

I think you would just be able to meet the deadline.

Hi,

Does FBI charge the credit card even if fingerprints were not well done and were rejected?
I saw they charged my card and wanna make sure if PCC request was approved or not.
I am asking this question because I have a doubt about my fingerprints as many people on the forum were warning not to take fingerprints alone. But I took my fingerprints home and by myself.

Thank you for your reply in advance.

Hi Giftsmas,

Charging of CC comes first . Only when they get your money they put it in waiting for your number to come to insert in their damn machine which reads the finger prints.

I believe that's the last step. So whether or not your finger prints are readable by your machine does not matter. You shall still be charged. Now the difference between the time they put your FP into machine and to generate the report is somewhere around 11 - 13 days.

In the report they have a statement called SEARCH COMPLETED ON . I am assuming that is the date they put it in the machine. Because the machine should be having all data prior to that date.

YES they do charge your credit card even if your fingerprints are rejected (I'm positive about that)

Didn't you tell us before that you emailed them and they told you that your fingerprints had been rejected?! That's odd!!

But CIC are saying that PCC is required from every country where you lived for 6 months in the last 10 years or since the age of 18.
It'd make more sense if you complete the sentence: whichever is most recent
i.e. if you're over 28 at the time of application, then only the last 10 years count. If you're 28 (like me) then both are the same (last 10 years = since the age of 18). If you're younger, then only since you were 18 count. Cheers!

In movies we watch FBI taking finger prints from the ocean bed and nailing down the criminals next day. This delay is really pathetic.

That is 100 pct correct. You have a good memory. I emailed them before and I was told that fingerprints are rejected. Then I saw the charge yesterday on my credit card. If FBI knew before that my fingerprints are not ok why they are running them into the system. I guess they knew that my fingerprints are not acceptable only by naked eye. No need at all to check them on the system. That is odd. I was thinking after the fee payment that the guy from the FBI call center has confused my fingerprints with another applicant. But I guess that was not the case.

So I should not bother myself with FBI fingerprints. I will not be asked for by the local visa office as I left the U.S. in October 2002. That will give me some comfort and avoid all these problems with fingerprints taking method and quality.

You may not be 100 % correct. I copied and pasted the text from CIC website

Who needs a police certificate?
In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18.

The certificate must be issued no more than three months before you apply.

If your certificate is in a language other than English or French, send it when you apply, along with the original copy of a translation done by a certified translator.

FBI approved channeler

Read this please. I copied / pasted from CIC official website
Note: Citizenship and Immigration Canada does not accept FBI police certificates issued by FBI-approved third party private companies. Only police certificates issued directly by the FBI will be accepted.

Any comments what this might mean?

Thanks Giftsmas and +1.

Yes, I believe yours were accepted. I contacted FBI and they were very helpful, telling me to find ridge builder to improve my print and to send up to 5 sets of prints for them to choose the best. There's no way to find ridge builder where I live so I will try to send in my sets.

Good luck to us!
I received the same email from them with the same recommendations about two weeks ago but I was surprised yesterday that they charged my card. What does it mean? :-\

Hi dears,

Last week FBI said I should call in two weeks, my app was received on 15th October and charged on 23rd December. Are they following those 12 weeks or takin longer?
The report is to be sent to a friend within USA who will ship me to Brazil via Fedex (2 days courier) . . . does it save me any time ?

If it gives you any indication of the delays they are facing, then pls note this - I am a Sep 30 applicant and still waiting. I called FBI y'day and they are still finalising reports as of Sep 29. For the timelines, I am almost on the verge of completing 15 odd weeks -(
