They gave me 30 days extension. I emailed them to raise an inquiry. My visa office is CPC-O. Hope it helps.

Was anyone successful in getting an extension? If so, was the request made via mail or email?
Also, how long of an extension was granted?

I just wanted to update you guys:

I just got off the phone with the FBI i.e. Friday evening 7 PM Eastern, and they have still not gotten to my application (Sept 9). The guy I talked to said that they are a few thousand away from me i.e. they are still working on Sept 8 :-\

He was guessing middle of next week. Also he could not say if my Finger Prints have been accepted  All he could tell me that as soon as it comes out of the machine, they are required to mail it in 7 days. But this is not helpful.
o_o ,

I just now got off the phone from FBI. They are finalizing 9th applications. Did you get any update ?

The FBI customer support person once told me the processing time defers based on various factors, one of which is, which state you lived in.
When i see some people getting through the process quickly, while others who applied before them are still waiting, this all makes sense to me.

Bro - You know what, you and I are anyway close to waiting for a good 3 whole months. Our time in near. You will have your report anytime in the next 2 weeks max. So Chill !!
Thank you aav I'm sorry I did not get a chance to look at this, or even call up the FBI today.

My real concern is to find out if my Finger Prints are OK. If yes, then I just email the VO, that I would be submitting it in a weeks time. However, if they tell me that my Finger Prints are rejected, I would mail my state PCCs, and request substantially more time. Anyway, in the next day or two I hope I would find out.

Dear all,

Wanted to share recent experience (rather bad, very bad). Its regarding finger printing.

I called up a guy named Gaurav from JK finger printing (Google shows as first result). Full of attitude and very unprofessional. It took me more than 3 weeks to just secure an appointment. When ever I called he said "my guy would call you in 10 mins", and that 10 mins never ended. They may be ok/good for Delhi region not for others. They do say that they have branches all over India and they will get it done for you. The reality is that they have contacts with various agencies operating locally and its done on commission/cut basis. It will only add to your cost as they would just arrange an appointment from your local/nearest agency.
I was told that they have bio metrics equipment and no one in India has it (also mentioned on their website), how ever on the day of finger printing I found it would be manual for me. I had gone to Mumbai just for this purpose, had I known it would be done manually, I could have done it locally in under 4k. I was upset, so called this guy (Gaurav) he immediately ate his words and said he never committed for bio metrics and it was always manual. I wasted precious 3-4 weeks just to get it done from boi metric equipment, and in end it was done manually. The only reason I was running behind bio metrics/ electronic equipment is that these reports are rarely rejected and manually have more chances as it is ink based and smudging , blotting etc is possible.
He charges 2.5k-3.5k for second copy, however local agencies do second copy for 300-500.

Be very careful with such unprofessional impostors and save your money and very very important "time".

Cheers..
I am very sorry about this. I hope if anyone has similar problems to ask in the forums.

I sent them a simple email, nothing fancy. So there is was no "cover letter" as such. They responded in a week. When you email CPC-O you get an automated reply. Ensure you get this in an hour. If not, then you have done something wrong ;)

I am curious if it makes more sense to wait till you are near to the end of your 60 day period before asking for an extension. Anyway, I leave this up to you.

Finally, I would like to point out the importance of calling up the FBI after they open your application to verify everything is OK. There is someone here, who found out they lost his fingerprints that way. Right now, they seem to be opening applications received in early Oct, so I think your turn would come around Christmas.

This is what i sent in email .Couple of weeks earlier, letter along with other documents (Med, Receipts ) were sent...

Sir,

UCI: XXXXXXXXX
Application: XXXXXXXXX
Subject: Delay in providing US FBI clearance certificate
Name Surname: XXXXXXXXXX
Name Given: XXXXXXXX
DOB: XXXX-XX-XX

I would like to draw to your attention that I haven't received US FBI clearance certificate yet, as it is being processed by them. On September 6 2014, I sent my finger prints via USPS for assessment by FBI CJIS. FBI confirmed receipt of the documents by September 15 2014. I received email from CPC asking me to furnish medical results,PCC and RPRF receipt on Sept 16,2014.

FBI CJIS states in the website, "On September 7, 2014, CJIS installed a new IT system. As a result of this installation, we are experiencing delays in processing. Please be assured that each issue is being identified and resolved as quickly as possible, but at this time anticipated processing time for an Identity History Summary is approximately 12 weeks. Allow additional time for mail delivery. "

I have stated the same when i had submitted my documents to CPC on Nov 6th,2014. The documents submitted were:
a) PCC from India
b) Fee Payment Receipt for RPRF
c) Letter explaining the reason for delay in submitting my PCC from US.

Medical examination results were submitted directly by my doctor.

As I am writing this email, it's been 10 weeks since the finger prints were originally submitted. Since the current processing time for FBI background checks have been increased from 8 weeks to 12 weeks, I would forward my results to the visa office upon my receipt of document. Therefore, i request to take my case into consideration and grant me the required extension for submission of PCC from CJIS - FBI.

Yours Sincerely.

Did anyone who had applied FBI PCC on September first week/August last week get their clearance certificate?

FBI received my finger prints on Sept 15. CIC sent me doc request on Sept 16 - which means, my deadline was Nov 16. I had requested extension through email and letter ( which was forwarded to CPC Ottawa ). On Dec 17 i have to leave the country for a business trip, and would be back only on Jan 10. I am having my friends check my mail box regularly for mails. FBI doesnt seem to be helping here, because they always say they would process on '3 months after date'. However, the lady whom i spoke to this noon, asked me to expect in 2-3 weeks, which is way more than 12 weeks ( approx 14 weeks including delivery).

Bro nartcr

I have come to realize that FBI Customer Desk people have no idea whats going on with our finger print applications. They are robots out there giving standard replies. The only thing you can extract from them useful is ask "Which date reports are getting out of their building". But then as I think more now, even dates dont matter as such, because lately some applications with a later date got processed while people from earlier dates are still waiting.

Well, all we can do is wait patiently. Good luck bro !

To this, i havent received any response from CPC-O authorities yet.
I got email from CPC Ottawa today granting me extension for 30 days. My history is that i sent the documents to FBI couple of days before i received email from CPC-O asking to submit documents. With current FBI timelines, i wouldn't be able to meet 30 days extension time given by CPC-Ottawa. I have requested for additional 15 days from CPC-Ottawa. This is getting into my nerves now. Does anyone know FBI CJIS email address?

Hi all!

I just got off the phone with the FBI, and they told they already have my information in their database. They processed that this week, even though my request arrived on October the 8th. They also let me know that they expect to charge my credit card in the next few weeks and they should be mailing the response by Jan the 8th (i doubt this date). I already got a one month extension by the Canada Visa Office, do you guys think I would get an extra month extension?
