We received the clearance cert on May 15!! The request was received by them in the week of Mar 22 and the CC was charged two weeks before we received the clearance in mail.

Oh man I hope that means I get mine soon. I sent in one on March 9, 2010 and was recieved on March 19, 2010. Then I sent a second one that was received on March 23, 2010 because I was afraid of the first one being refused.

Are you currently living in the US or Canada?

Hi Colormepanda - we have requested the clearance cert to be sent to an Ontario address but the applicant is in US physically. Did you paid for it by CC or money order?

my FBI clearance certifcate was somehow lost between Buffalo and the New York consulate. :-\ :-\ :-\ :o :o :o

i mailed out a new fingerprint card a few days ago.

i guess, if i'm lucky, i'll hear back from the FBI around the end of July -- sound about right? (fume, fume....)

Bonacker - sorry for what has happened to you. It took us exactly 8 weeks to receive the clearance cert. in mail. It is also recommended that you send multiple fingerprinting cards in case they could not get a clear read on the first one. We have mailed out extra ones 2-3 weeks after the first set was sent (didn't know the multiple sets back then) just to be on the safe side, so we are expecting another cert to come in maybe in 3 weeks time and that will be our back up.

I didn't hear from the FBI for over 13 weeks time, only to be told they couldn't read them. I originally sent them out the first week in December 2009. My guess is they were delayed 4-6 weeks because of the Christmas/New Years holiday. As they seem to be processing them now in 7-10 weeks.

sogwap - A man I talked to at the FBI office in WV said because it was my 3rd attempt after 2 failings that the process would be quicker. I hope that's true. I can't remember if I told you that or not. I plan on calling them again to re-confirm this and will keep you posted.

Is it possible to get yourself fingerprinted while in Canada? I'm in Nova Scotia now, and happened to have saved a spare set of fingerprints (from my first FBI clearance, a few months ago), and I used those to request a new clearance. If these are unusable -- or do decide to send in another set to be on the safe side -- can I possibly get fingerprinted here in Nova Scotia?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS THREAD AND ALL THE ADVICE!

bonacker - yes you could get fingerprinting done in Caanada. We went to this place called L-1 identity solutions (just google it). We went to one of its locations in Mississauga in Ontario but it seems like they have locations in Nova Scotia too. Just give them a call and see how much they'll charge you and to make sure they have the fingerprinting cards available.

Thanks for the information. I thought I read something similar on my rejection letter, but don't see that now.

I sent my second sets of fingerprints on April 15, by ExpessPost from Ontario, and was delivered April 21, 2009. At the going rate I figure I won't hear anything back for at least another month.

Wish I had been smart enough to find this thread about 3 months ago. My husband is just getting his fingerprinting down today so our entire application package has to wait until we get the response.

*fingers crossed* for a good first set.

YAY, we got our certificate today. Mailed it at the beginning of April and they charged the CC last Tuesday and it arrived today. That is 6 weeks!

6 WEEKS! That's great news, heather! I hope we can all see that kind of turnover rate.

Did anyone receive FBI police certificate recently? Please post your timeline, I applied mine in Oct5th and still waiting......

My wife's took about 6 weeks to arrive, when we got hers back in February of this year. So you should get it soon, but may still have up to 2 weeks to wait (or maybe more if the shutdown affected anything there).

One thing I kept doing was checking my credit card statement online...if you paid via credit card it will show the charge the day the check is completed.
