FBI clearance

My wife submitted her finger prints to the FBI the first week of febuary. She followed the instructions about expiditing the for canadian immigration to a "T" :She included a cover letter, wrote the need by date on the out side of the envelope and even sent them by registered mail, no signature nessasary. But when she called the number to see if they had been processed yet, they said they wouldn`t even get to them for ten weeks, and they are no longer expiditing clearances for immigration purposes. Has anyone else recently had problems ? Anyone submitted finger prints to the FBI for clearance and been told the same information. Our application is waiting on this one thing; she`s discouraged and wondering what she did wrong. Any ideas? Thanks for now

I don't think she did anything wrong and I've not heard about anyone else being told they're no longer expediting for immigration purposes. I have heard about people talking to someone answering the phone at FBI and them not knowing there was a way to expedite for immigration purposes. The info about expediting was originally on the FBI site - along with the cover letter. I'd be interested to hear how this ends up, please.

I had problems getting my FBI clearance as well. I sent the request to the "T" beginning of October and didn't recieve it until mid/late Jan. We sent it in anyway with the application on March 6 even though the processing date said November (it has a 3 month expiration date). So we may end up having to redo it. I've heard of others that have sent the entire application and put a letter stating that they were waiting for it and would send it when they recieved it.

Well, yes - it's taking forever now to process FBI records - they overloaded now. We sent my husband's fingerprints in the beginning of December 2009, I caled them many times - still processing, and only recently in the middle of March we finally got the results back.
patience... and patience...
GOOD LUCK!

We were told the same thing when we called the FBI a few weeks ago that they are no longer expediting any requests even if they have cover letters etc. They said they are just too swamped.

I am worried.
In their directions the Consulate Office at Buffalo has asked me to produce FBI background check within 90 days, and failure to do so could result in a refusal of your application.
Hopefully they are aware that the FBI is taking such a long time.
90 days equals less than 13 weeks!!!!

My husband's finger prints were sent to the FBI in November and we didn't receive the clearance back until February. It took 12 weeks!!

thanks for your replys, I would suggest other people starting this process start earlier with the FBI so they can get every thing together without some things lapsing, thanks

I've been waiting on my FBI check to send my application also. I sent it the last week in December. When I called a few weeks ago, they said it would take at least 10 weeks. I called again today, and they still had not begun processing it. The girl still could not pull up my name in the system. She finally found it, and said it had been received, but they are taking 13 weeks to process. She said she'd send an email to check on it for me, and that I should call back in a few weeks. It's all very discouraging. I just hope they accept the fingerprints and don't tell me I have to do them over again.

This is the most frustrating part of the process for me.. just the waiting... so you say that some people just send the clearence along later? How did that work out?

well if u provide them proof that delay is not your fault u can submit the clearance after your application has begun processing they give u i think 60 or 90 days to send clearance back to them what i am doing is submitting my immigration application next week and i am providing them copies of email replies by FBI saying they cant pull up the information and you have to wait

I agree the FBI Clearance is one of the most frustrating parts. I waited 13+ week only for the FBI report to be returned saying the print quality was too low. :-X

At the current rate it will now take me well over 6 months waiting just for the FBI clearance.
